Match your credentials to USMCA categories
TN admission at a health science institution depends on your role mapping cleanly to the USMCA professions list. Cross-reference your degree and job title against O*NET occupation profiles before applying, since UNT Health Science Center hiring managers review this alignment during the offer letter process.
Target departments with recurring TN hiring
Research centers, biomedical science labs, and clinical education departments at health science universities regularly bring in TN professionals. Focus your applications on faculty support, research coordination, and scientific analyst roles, where TN-eligible qualifications like a relevant bachelor's degree directly satisfy posted requirements.
Confirm your offer letter covers TN requirements
UNT Health Science Center's offer letter must specify your job title, USMCA profession category, employment duration, and that the role requires your specific degree field. Review it against USCIS TN guidance before your border or consulate appointment, since officers use this letter as your primary supporting document.
Prepare for Canadian border entry specifics
Canadian nationals don't need a consulate appointment. You present your UNT Health Science Center offer letter, credentials, and passport directly at a land port of entry or preclearance facility. Bring degree transcripts and any professional licenses, since Customs and Border Protection officers may request them on the spot.
Use Migrate Mate to verify TN-sponsoring roles
Before investing time in an application, confirm UNT Health Science Center is actively hiring in your occupation category. Migrate Mate shows verified employer hiring data filtered for TN-eligible roles, so you can target open positions where your credentials and the institution's needs already align.
Align your salary expectations before negotiating
Health science institutions follow internal pay bands tied to academic and research salary standards. Look up prevailing wages for your occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search and cross-check Bureau of Labor Statistics data, so your salary negotiation reflects both your market value and UNT's compensation structure.
University of North Texas Health Science Center TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does University of North Texas Health Science Center sponsor TN visas?
Yes. UNT Health Science Center hires Canadian and Mexican nationals in TN-eligible roles across research, clinical education, and scientific support functions. The institution issues offer letters that TN professionals use at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. TN admission is treaty-based, so there is no USCIS petition involved.
Which roles and departments at UNT Health Science Center typically support TN admission?
Roles in biomedical research, scientific analysis, clinical education, and engineering support align most consistently with USMCA profession categories at health science institutions. Departments focused on research operations, pharmacology, physical therapy education, and laboratory sciences regularly post positions where a relevant bachelor's or higher degree satisfies both the job requirement and the TN occupation definition.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a job offer from UNT Health Science Center?
Once you have an offer, work with UNT Health Science Center's HR or international office to obtain a formal offer letter that specifies your USMCA profession category, degree requirement, and employment period. Canadian nationals present this at the border; Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate. Bring your degree transcripts, credentials, and passport to either appointment.
How long does TN admission take for UNT Health Science Center positions?
Canadian nationals approved at the border typically receive TN status the same day. Mexican nationals applying at a U.S. consulate should allow several weeks for a visa stamp, depending on appointment availability. Start with Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by visa type and shows employer hiring patterns for TN professionals.
