Job Title:
Teacher Education Adjunct Faculty Spring
Job Summary:
Our Mission:
The University of San Francisco (USF) is a private, urban University with a global perspective that educates leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world. The University offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional students the knowledge, skills, and values needed to be leaders in their field, life-long learners, and in service to others. USF draws from the cultural, intellectual, and economic resources of the San Francisco Bay Area and its location on the Pacific Rim to enrich its educational programs.
The USF Teacher Education program (TED) prepares strong, dedicated, and creative teachers for today's increasingly diverse schools. The teachers we graduate are reflective practitioners who foster intellectual growth, holistic development, and multicultural democratic community in their classrooms and schools. They strive to provide their students - especially those most vulnerable to systemic injustices - an equitable, responsive, and empowering education. Our graduates develop a vision informed by principles and theories of education, and an array of pedagogical and conceptual tools grounded in classroom practice. At the same time, they understand the challenges and complexities of teaching, especially within urban contexts.

Align your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility at USF depends on your occupation matching a listed USMCA profession, not just your job title. Cross-reference your role against the official USMCA professions list before applying, and confirm your degree field directly supports the position USF is hiring for.
Target faculty and research-adjacent postings
USF's TN hires are concentrated in academic departments, research units, and specialized administrative roles tied to scientific or professional disciplines. Filter your job search to positions where your degree and occupation code align clearly with USMCA-listed categories like Scientific Technician or Economist.
Request a detailed offer letter early
USF's offer letter must state your job title, USMCA profession category, degree requirements, and employment terms. Ask HR to confirm these details are included before your border or consulate appointment, as CBP officers use the letter to verify eligibility on the spot.
Verify your wage against OFLC Wage Search
TN status doesn't require a formal prevailing wage filing, but USF's offered salary should be competitive for your occupation and region. Check the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offer reflects the local wage level for your role, which strengthens your overall TN admission case.
Use Migrate Mate to identify USF's active TN roles
Before outreaching to USF directly, search Migrate Mate to see which departments and job types USF has actively supported for TN admission. This helps you target roles where the university's HR team already understands the offer letter process for Canadian and Mexican nationals.
Prepare your degree documentation for CBP review
Canadian nationals present their credentials directly at the port of entry. Bring original transcripts, your degree certificate, and any professional licenses tied to your USMCA occupation. USF's HR can advise on whether credential evaluation is needed if your degree was issued outside North America.
University of San Francisco TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does University of San Francisco sponsor TN visas?
USF supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in USMCA-listed professions. The university does not file a petition with USCIS. Instead, you present USF's offer letter at the border or a U.S. consulate, where a CBP officer determines your TN eligibility directly.
Which roles and departments at USF typically support TN admission?
TN-compatible roles at USF are most common in academic departments, research centers, and professional staff positions tied to science, technology, social sciences, or education. Roles that map to USMCA professions such as Economist, Scientific Technician, or Computer Systems Analyst are the strongest fit for TN admission at a university employer.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a USF job offer?
Once USF extends an offer, ask HR to issue a detailed support letter confirming your USMCA profession category, required degree, and employment terms. Canadian nationals then proceed to a U.S. port of entry with that letter and their credentials. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate before traveling.
How long does TN admission at USF typically take?
Canadian nationals can receive TN admission the same day at the port of entry if documents are in order. Mexican nationals face consulate appointment wait times that vary by location and season. TN status is granted in up to three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely, so long as the employment relationship with USF continues.
How do I find open TN-compatible jobs at USF?
Search Migrate Mate to identify active USF job postings in roles that align with USMCA professions. Cross-reference each posting against O*NET to confirm the occupation's typical degree requirements match what CBP expects for TN admission. Reaching out to USF's HR team directly about TN readiness before applying can also save time.
How does TN visa admission work at University of San Francisco?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from University of San Francisco, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
