Map your degree to USMCA professions
Volkert hires across civil, environmental, and structural engineering disciplines. Before applying, confirm your degree title matches a recognized USMCA profession category. A degree in civil engineering clearly qualifies, but adjacent titles like construction management may not clear the border without additional documentation.
Target project-specific openings at Volkert
Volkert staffs TN professionals by active project pipeline, not headcount targets. Search openings tied to infrastructure, transportation, or environmental services. Roles embedded in long-term contracts are more likely to yield a full two-year TN support letter, which matters for your admission timeline.
Request a detailed TN offer letter early
Ask Volkert's HR team to specify your role title, your degree requirement, and the USMCA profession category in the offer letter. CBP officers review these details at the port of entry. Vague job descriptions are the most common reason TN admissions are delayed or refused at the border.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Consulting firms like Volkert peg salaries to regional project budgets. Run your target role through OFLC Wage Search before your offer negotiation. If your offer falls below the local wage level for your occupation, that gap can complicate future H-1B visa or Green Card sponsorship if you pursue those paths later.
Use Migrate Mate to find Volkert TN job openings
Migrate Mate filters live job listings by visa type and employer sponsorship history, so you can surface Volkert openings already tagged for TN candidates. This saves you from applying to roles where TN support isn't on the table and focuses your effort on positions with confirmed sponsorship intent.
Prepare for CBP questions about consulting scope
Consulting roles at project-based firms like Volkert sometimes draw CBP scrutiny about whether the work is truly professional or more supervisory in nature. Bring your degree, a copy of the offer letter, and any credential verification documents. Being able to describe your day-to-day technical responsibilities clearly will strengthen your admission.
Volkert, Inc. TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Volkert, Inc. sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Volkert, Inc. supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in engineering and consulting roles. The company issues offer letters that TN candidates present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved, so Volkert's support comes in the form of documentation rather than a formal filing.
Which roles at Volkert, Inc. typically qualify for TN admission?
Volkert's core hiring aligns well with USMCA professions. Civil engineers, environmental engineers, structural engineers, and professional planners are the roles most commonly supported for TN. These positions appear across Volkert's infrastructure, transportation, and environmental service lines, where project-based staffing creates consistent demand for credentialed professionals.
How do I apply for TN admission when accepting a Volkert offer?
Once Volkert issues your offer letter confirming your role, degree requirement, and USMCA profession category, you present that letter along with your credentials at a U.S. port of entry if you're Canadian, or at a U.S. consulate if you're Mexican. USCIS is not involved in TN admission. Canadians can often complete the process on the same day.
How long does TN admission take when starting at Volkert, Inc.?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission at a land border or pre-clearance airport is typically same-day if your documentation is complete. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate, where processing times vary by location and season. Volkert's offer letter needs to be in hand before you schedule any border or consulate appointment, so start that conversation with HR early.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Volkert, Inc.?
Migrate Mate lists Volkert job openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify TN-eligible roles without applying blindly. You can also search Volkert's careers page directly and filter by engineering or environmental disciplines. Reaching out to a Volkert recruiter to confirm TN support before applying saves time if the listing doesn't specify visa eligibility.
How does TN visa admission work at Volkert, Inc.?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Volkert, Inc., while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
