Align your credentials to disability-focused care
Upstate Cerebral Palsy prioritizes clinicians and therapists experienced with developmental disabilities or pediatric populations. Before applying, tailor your resume to highlight any direct support, rehabilitation, or habilitation experience, even from clinical placements.
Verify your license transfers to New York State
New York requires state-specific licensure for most Healthcare roles. Confirm your credential is eligible for endorsement or reciprocity through the New York State Education Department before your employer initiates any visa filing, since USCIS requires proof of licensure for H-1B approval.
Target roles classified as specialty occupations
H-1B eligibility depends on your role qualifying as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and licensed clinical social workers consistently meet this bar at disability services organizations like Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type
Not every open position at Upstate Cerebral Palsy is posted with sponsorship details visible. Use Migrate Mate to browse their active Healthcare openings filtered by the visa types they sponsor, so you focus only on roles where sponsorship is available.
Request the LCA before your start date
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition to USCIS. Confirm with HR that LCA filing is underway well ahead of your intended start date, especially if you're transitioning off OPT with a looming expiration.
Prepare documentation for a TN application if eligible
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Healthcare occupations can enter under TN status without the H-1B lottery. Bring your credential evaluation, degree certificate, and employer offer letter to the port of entry, as USCIS adjudicates TN petitions there in most cases.

Find Healthcare at Upstate Cerebral Palsy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Upstate Cerebral Palsy sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, Upstate Cerebral Palsy sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying Healthcare roles. Positions such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists typically meet USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Your employer files the petition with USCIS after obtaining a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL. Sponsorship is role-dependent, so confirm eligibility during the hiring process.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at Upstate Cerebral Palsy?
You can browse and apply for Healthcare openings at Upstate Cerebral Palsy through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can target positions where your visa category is supported. Review the role requirements carefully, ensure your New York State licensure is active or in progress, and highlight any experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in your application materials.
Which visa types does Upstate Cerebral Palsy commonly use for Healthcare roles?
Upstate Cerebral Palsy sponsors H-1B visas for specialty Healthcare roles, along with F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT for recent graduates completing clinical training. Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible Healthcare occupations may also qualify for TN status. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree, licensure status, and the specific role you are hired into.
What qualifications are expected for Healthcare roles at Upstate Cerebral Palsy?
Most clinical and therapeutic roles require a relevant degree in your discipline, active or pending New York State licensure, and ideally some background working with individuals who have physical or developmental disabilities. Roles in rehabilitation, behavioral health, and direct clinical support are common. Upstate Cerebral Palsy serves a specialized population, so experience in disability services or pediatric care strengthens your candidacy meaningfully.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Healthcare role at Upstate Cerebral Palsy?
The H-1B cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, so you need a signed offer well before then. If you are on F-1 OPT, your employer can file a cap-gap extension request to bridge any gap. For TN-eligible candidates, processing at the port of entry can be much faster. Confirm your New York license status early, since USCIS requires proof before approving the petition.
