Focus on Green Card pathway roles
USG's sponsorship activity centers on permanent residence rather than temporary work visas. Target roles where long-term retention matters to the company, such as engineering, materials science, and operations, these are the positions most likely to come with Green Card support.
Align your background with Chemicals & Materials
USG operates deep in building materials manufacturing. Candidates with backgrounds in chemical engineering, materials science, or industrial operations are better positioned for sponsored roles. Tailor your resume to reflect hands-on industry expertise, not just general engineering credentials.
Understand EB-2 and EB-3 distinctions before applying
USG sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards. EB-2 typically requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers skilled workers. Knowing which category fits your background helps you target the right roles and set realistic timeline expectations.
Prioritize roles in core manufacturing and technical functions
USG's sponsored positions tend to sit in technical and production-focused departments. Roles in product development, process engineering, and plant operations align most closely with the company's sponsorship history, these are the functions where visa support is most likely offered.
Search for verified USG openings before reaching out
Before contacting recruiters, confirm sponsorship-eligible openings exist. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving you the step of asking HR whether a role qualifies, you'll already know USG has a track record.
Be upfront about your Green Card timeline expectations
Since USG focuses on permanent residence sponsorship, hiring managers expect candidates to think long-term. Demonstrating that you understand the PERM and I-140 process, and that you're committed to staying in the role through adjudication, strengthens your candidacy considerably.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does USG sponsor H-1B visas?
Based on available sponsorship data, USG does not have a notable track record of H-1B visa sponsorship. The company's visa activity is concentrated in permanent residence categories. If you currently hold H-1B status through another employer and are targeting USG, you would likely need to pursue a direct Green Card sponsorship arrangement rather than an H-1B transfer.
What visa types does USG sponsor?
USG sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa categories. EB-2 is suited to candidates with advanced degrees or demonstrated exceptional ability in their field, while EB-3 covers skilled workers in professional roles. Both pathways involve PERM labor certification, followed by an I-140 petition filed by the employer.
Which departments or roles at USG are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
USG's sponsorship history points toward technical and operational functions within its manufacturing business. Roles in chemical and materials engineering, process improvement, product development, and plant operations are the most consistent with the company's Green Card sponsorship patterns. Corporate functions like finance or marketing are less commonly associated with sponsorship at manufacturing-focused employers.
How do I find currently open visa-sponsored jobs at USG?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find USG roles with confirmed sponsorship history. Because the platform filters specifically for employers with verified Green Card and visa sponsorship track records, you can browse USG openings with confidence that sponsorship is genuinely on the table, rather than relying on job listings that don't disclose immigration support.
How do I approach the application process when targeting USG for Green Card sponsorship?
Start by identifying roles that align with your technical background in Chemicals & Materials. When applying, make your sponsorship needs clear early in the process rather than raising them at the offer stage. USG's sponsorship is tied to specific roles, so demonstrating a strong match between your expertise and the position's requirements is the most effective way to advance through the process.
