Align your credentials to nuclear quality standards
Westinghouse Quality Engineer roles frequently require familiarity with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B or NQA-1 nuclear quality assurance programs. Documenting hands-on experience with these standards in your resume positions you as inspection-ready from day one.
Target roles tied to active plant projects
Westinghouse staffs Quality Engineers heavily around ongoing nuclear plant projects and AP1000 deployments. Roles attached to active construction or refueling outages move faster and often carry stronger sponsorship urgency than general corporate openings.
Verify your OPT or CPT start date against project timelines
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, extendable to 36 months for STEM graduates. Confirm your authorization window aligns with Westinghouse's project ramp-up schedule before accepting an offer to avoid gaps during the H-1B filing cycle.
Confirm the employer's H-1B filing calendar early
H-1B cap-subject registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. Ask your Westinghouse recruiter during the offer stage whether the role is cap-subject or cap-exempt, since some positions tied to government-funded nuclear programs may qualify for cap exemption.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Quality Engineer openings with sponsorship
Search Migrate Mate to surface active Quality Engineer listings at Westinghouse filtered by visa type. This cuts through openings that exclude sponsorship and shows you roles where international candidates have a realistic path to an offer.
Prepare your LCA documentation for specialty occupation alignment
DOL requires Westinghouse to file a certified Labor Condition Application before your H-1B petition. Quality Engineer roles must meet the specialty occupation threshold, so gather your degree transcripts and any professional engineering certifications to support that classification from the start.

Find Quality Engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Quality Engineers?
Yes, Westinghouse Electric Company does sponsor H-1B visas for Quality Engineer roles. The company operates across nuclear energy, a sector that regularly requires specialized engineering talent. Sponsorship is more common for roles tied to specific technical qualifications in nuclear quality assurance or manufacturing inspection, so aligning your background to those requirements strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Quality Engineer roles at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Westinghouse supports several visa categories for engineering roles, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1. F-1 STEM OPT is frequently used as a bridge while an H-1B petition is prepared. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations may also be eligible for TN status, which can be processed at the border without a USCIS petition.
How do I apply for Quality Engineer jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Applications go through Westinghouse's careers portal, where Quality Engineer openings are listed by location and project type. Migrate Mate also aggregates Westinghouse Quality Engineer listings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can quickly identify which roles are open to international candidates before investing time in a full application.
What qualifications and experience does Westinghouse expect for Quality Engineer roles?
Most Quality Engineer positions at Westinghouse require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, nuclear, or materials engineering. Familiarity with nuclear quality assurance frameworks such as NQA-1 or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B is frequently listed as a requirement. Prior experience in supplier audits, non-conformance reporting, or radiological environments meaningfully strengthens an application for nuclear-site-specific roles.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to work authorization at Westinghouse?
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT to H-1B, your employer must register you in the USCIS H-1B lottery by late March for an October 1 start. Gap coverage between OPT expiration and the H-1B start date may be available through a timely filed cap-gap extension. Starting the conversation with your recruiter at least six months before your current authorization expires gives enough runway to prepare the petition.
