Frame credentials around nuclear project delivery
Westinghouse prioritizes project managers with experience in regulated, safety-critical environments. Certifications like PMP alongside documentation of milestone delivery on large capital projects in energy or utilities will strengthen your profile before you apply.
Target roles tied to active reactor programs
Westinghouse's AP1000 and nuclear services contracts generate sustained demand for program managers. Search specifically for postings tied to reactor construction, outage planning, or fuel services, where headcount needs are driven by project timelines rather than discretionary hiring cycles.
Clarify sponsorship intent early in recruiter screens
Westinghouse's talent acquisition team handles federal contractor compliance requirements, so recruiters are accustomed to sponsorship conversations. Ask directly which visa types the hiring team is currently processing for this role before advancing past the initial screen.
Understand H-1B cap timing relative to your offer
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS registration opens in March for an October 1 start. Align your interview timeline so an offer lands before March, giving Westinghouse's immigration counsel enough runway to register and file without gaps in your work authorization.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Westinghouse openings by visa type
Searching broadly across job boards won't surface sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter Project Program Manager openings at Westinghouse by the visa types they actively sponsor, so you're applying to positions where your work authorization situation is already a known fit.
Verify export control clearance requirements before applying
Westinghouse operates under Department of Energy export control regulations, and some program manager roles require U.S. person status under ITAR or EAR. Confirm whether the specific posting has this restriction so you aren't advancing through multiple interview rounds on a role you're ineligible for.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Westinghouse Electric Company sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Westinghouse Electric Company sponsors H-1B visas for Project Program Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to handle petitions for qualified candidates. Not every open position will be eligible, particularly those subject to export control or U.S. person requirements, so confirming sponsorship availability for the specific role during your recruiter screen is the right first step.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Program Manager roles at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Westinghouse sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation roles including project and program management. For students completing degrees in engineering, project management, or related fields, F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT are also supported. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations may be eligible for TN visa status, and J-1 visa exchange visitors in eligible programs are sponsored as well.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Project Program Manager roles at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Westinghouse typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline, combined with several years of project or program management experience in energy, utilities, or a regulated industry. A PMP certification is frequently listed as preferred. Familiarity with nuclear safety culture, contract management, and cross-functional team coordination in large capital project environments strengthens an application considerably.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Westinghouse Electric Company?
Applications go through Westinghouse's careers portal. For visa-sponsored candidates, Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point, as it surfaces Westinghouse Project Program Manager openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility so you're only seeing roles where international candidates are actively considered. Once you identify a posting, apply directly through the Westinghouse portal and flag your visa status in the application or early in the recruiter conversation.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Westinghouse Electric Company?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in early March each year for petitions with an October 1 start date. If you're targeting a new H-1B, aim to secure an offer from Westinghouse by February so immigration counsel has time to prepare the registration. If you're already on H-1B status with another employer, Westinghouse can file a transfer petition at any point, allowing you to start once the petition is received by USCIS.
