Construction Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Atlanta?
Target Atlanta's active sectors: commercial development in Midtown and Buckhead, infrastructure projects along I-285 and MARTA expansion corridors, and residential construction spreading through Westside and the BeltLine. General contractors, civil engineering firms, and large property developers hire most frequently. Candidates with OSHA 10 or 30 certification and experience on urban infill or high-rise projects stand out in Atlanta's competitive market.
Which companies hire constructions in Atlanta?
Companies currently hiring constructions in Atlanta include Burns & McDonnell, City of Atlanta, and Turner & Townsend Pty Limited, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's market is anchored by large general contractors managing commercial towers and public infrastructure, alongside regional homebuilders active in the suburbs.
Are there remote construction jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, but only for specific roles: on-site trades and field work are almost entirely in person, while estimating, project management, and scheduling roles sometimes allow hybrid arrangements. About 46% of construction openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, skewing toward office-based project coordination roles rather than hands-on site work.
How can I get a construction job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Atlanta is a laborer or helper role with a general contractor on one of the city's active commercial or infrastructure projects. Atlanta homebuilders hiring in Gwinnett and Cherokee counties regularly take on entry-level framing and finish crews. Pre-apprenticeship programs through Atlanta-area trade unions in carpentry and electrical work also place candidates directly with signatory contractors.
Which industries hire the most constructions in Atlanta?
Most construction openings in Atlanta sit in Construction & Real Estate and Chemicals & Materials, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's role as a regional corporate hub and ongoing transit and stadium investment keep commercial, infrastructure, and mixed-use development consistently among the heaviest sources of local construction demand.
