Construction Jobs in Overland Park: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Overland Park?
Focus on Overland Park's active residential subdivisions in the Blue Valley and Tomahawk Creek areas, where homebuilders and subcontractors post openings year-round. Commercial general contractors working the Metcalf corridor and the 135th Street development corridor also hire steadily. Candidates who hold a current OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card and can demonstrate framing, concrete, or MEP experience move to the top of the list fastest in this market.
Which companies hire constructions in Overland Park?
Companies currently hiring constructions in Overland Park include Black & Veatch, Universal Engineering Sciences, and Garver, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. The local mix leans toward regional homebuilders, commercial general contractors, and specialty subcontractors serving the city's ongoing suburban expansion and corporate campus development.
Are there remote construction jobs in Overland Park?
Yes, though remote opportunities are rare for hands-on field roles and more common for desk-based positions like project management, estimating, and scheduling. About 50% of construction openings tied to Overland Park are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, with most of those in estimating or preconstruction roles rather than site work.
How can I get a construction job in Overland Park with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Overland Park is a laborer or general helper role with a residential framing or concrete subcontractor active in the Blue Valley or southern Overland Park subdivisions, where crews hire assistants and train on the job. Local commercial contractors working office and retail fit-outs along Metcalf also bring on entry-level helpers during busy build seasons, rewarding candidates who show up reliably and hold a valid driver's license.
