Construction Jobs in Arlington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a construction job in Arlington?
Focus your search on the commercial and mixed-use development boom along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and the National Landing area, where general contractors and federal construction managers hire most actively. Experience with LEED-certified builds, transit-adjacent projects, or federal contractor compliance stands out in Arlington's market. Building relationships with project managers on active sites and targeting firms working on Amazon HQ2-adjacent infrastructure gives candidates a real edge here.
Which companies hire constructions in Arlington?
Arlington construction roles are posted by CMTA Consulting Engineers, AECOM, and Amazon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The market is anchored by large general contractors, federal facilities management firms, and development companies driving the ongoing commercial and transit-oriented build-out across Arlington's high-density corridors.
Are there remote construction jobs in Arlington?
Yes, though remote work is rare for hands-on field roles and more common for project management, estimating, and design coordination positions. About 50% of construction openings tied to Arlington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the mix of office-based and site-based work. In Arlington, estimators and construction project coordinators working with federal clients are the most likely to have hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a construction job in Arlington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Arlington is through apprenticeship programs run by trade unions operating in the Northern Virginia market, which place apprentices directly on active commercial and federal construction sites throughout Arlington. Entry-level laborers, construction assistants, and site safety monitors are the most accessible starting roles. Federal construction contractors in the Pentagon City and National Landing areas regularly hire entry-level workers for large multi-year projects that offer structured on-the-job training.
