Cyber Security Architect Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cyber security architect in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a cyber security architect, so the path runs through education and industry credentials. Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or information systems plus several years in security engineering or network architecture roles. The CISSP from ISC2 is the credential Texas hiring managers reference most consistently, and experience with federal frameworks like NIST or CMMC is a significant advantage in the defense and energy sectors that anchor the Texas market.
How much do cyber security architects make in Texas?
Cyber security architects in Texas earn a median of about $129,890 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,990 for the lowest 10% to over $178,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire cyber security architects in Texas?
Employers hiring cyber security architects in Texas right now include Apple, NTT DATA, and Boston Consulting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of defense primes, regional banks, and vertically integrated energy companies means demand is spread across sectors rather than clustering around a single industry.
Which Texas cities have the most cyber security architect jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston account for the largest share of cyber security architect openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its dense concentration of financial institutions, corporate headquarters, and defense contractors, while Austin's technology sector and San Antonio's military installations and federal agencies create sustained demand in those markets as well.
Are there remote cyber security architect jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of cyber security architect openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves designing policies, reviewing architecture diagrams, and advising engineering teams rather than handling physical infrastructure. Cloud security and governance-focused roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions supporting classified government networks or operational technology environments typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a cyber security architect in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is lateral movement from a security analyst or network engineer role into junior architecture work. Large Texas employers like defense contractors in the Dallas-Fort Worth corridor and San Antonio-area federal agencies regularly hire associate-level architects from their own security operations teams. Pursuing the CompTIA Security+ or the CCNA Security while working in an analyst role builds the credential foundation, and contributing to internal architecture documentation or threat-modeling projects creates the portfolio evidence Texas hiring managers look for before promoting or hiring into a formal architect title.
Where can I find and apply to cyber security architect jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cyber security architect jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and metro areas. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the employers posting them.
