GPSSample is an Android application (GPSSample - Apps on Google Play) used by public health professionals to conduct gold standard sampling of households in the field. This is the first application with the ability to enumerate all households in an area, to quickly select a sample of the households, and to distribute the selected households back to teams to conduct the field survey. This rapid sampling capacity is critical for public health professionals. The GPSSample application has been used in 14 unique surveys in 6 countries. Please view our website (GPSSample), GitHub documentation (GPS-Sample), and YouTube channel (GPSSample Overview) with multiple videos.

Tips for Your Developer Internship Search
Apply earlier than the calendar suggests
Large employers recruit summer developer interns the preceding fall, so roles for June start dates often close before the new year. Smaller companies and co-op programs post closer to start dates. Starting your search in September and checking listings regularly gives you a real shot at the early cohorts.
Build proof before you need it
Developer intern hiring teams expect limited work history, so your portfolio does the work your resume can't. Complete two or three projects end-to-end, document what you built and why, and publish the code publicly. A GitHub profile with active repositories gives recruiters something concrete to evaluate before a screen.
Work your campus network and apply directly at the same time
Campus career fairs surface structured internship programs tied to your university, and recruiters there often move faster for students they meet in person. Your professors and career center staff frequently know which employers recruit from your school before roles post publicly. Applying directly to companies running smaller cohorts alongside campus activity widens the pool you reach.
Practice the actual developer intern screen out loud
For software engineering roles, the screen is typically a coding problem on data structures and algorithms. For product or data roles, expect a product-sense or technical analytics exercise. Practice explaining your reasoning as you work, interviewers weigh how you think through a problem as much as whether you reach the right answer.
Target structured internship programs built for new entrants
Many larger companies run formal software engineering internship cohorts designed specifically to train students new to professional work. These programs include structured mentorship, defined project scopes, and dedicated recruiting timelines. They fill fast and recruit early, so identify the ones that match your year of study and apply in the first wave.
Set your work-type filter before you start
On-site roles are 27% of the developer internships listed here. Decide what you can actually commit to before you search, then filter by location and work type so you're not sorting through roles you can't take. Migrate Mate's work-type filter lets you set this once and see only the listings that fit your situation.
Developer Internships: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a developer internship?
Lead with coursework, personal projects, and a portfolio rather than work history, hiring teams expect limited experience at the intern level. For developer candidates, a linked code repository gives recruiters something concrete to assess. Combine direct applications with campus career fairs, where recruiters often move faster for students they meet in person.
Can a developer internship turn into a full-time job?
Many employers extend return offers to strong interns, but conversion is never guaranteed. What actually drives it for developer interns is performance on real deliverables, whether the team has open headcount, and how early the return-offer conversation starts. Treat a full-time offer as a possibility to work toward, not an outcome to count on.
When should I apply for developer internships?
Earlier than most expect. Large employers recruit summer interns the preceding fall, so applications for June start dates often open in September or October. Smaller companies and co-op programs post closer to start dates, which means openings appear year-round. Checking listings regularly rather than waiting for a single hiring season keeps you from missing early waves.
Are developer internships paid?
Most professional developer internships in the U.S. are paid. Compensation varies by company size, industry, and location. Where an employer discloses pay, the listing will show it, so you can compare directly as you search without needing to ask upfront.
What should a developer internship resume include?
Lead with projects, not work history. Include two or three complete, documented projects that name the languages and tools used and link to the code, a GitHub repository or deployed project gives reviewers something to evaluate directly. Add relevant coursework, list technical skills clearly, and keep the whole thing to one page.
Are there remote developer internships?
Yes. Remote and hybrid roles make up 73% of the developer internship listings here, with the rest on-site. Remote cohorts fill fast, so apply early and filter by work type to see them before they close.
What is a software engineering internship program versus a general developer internship?
Structured software engineering internship programs at larger companies, sometimes called university hiring programs or SWE intern cohorts, are built specifically to onboard students new to professional work. They include mentorship pairings, defined project scopes, and mid-point and final evaluations. They recruit early and are competitive, so identify the programs that match your class year and apply in the first wave.
Can international students get developer internships?
Yes. F-1 students can intern through CPT while enrolled or through OPT work authorization after finishing a degree, and the employer does not have to file anything for either, so many companies are open to international interns. Confirm your eligibility and timing with your university's international student office before accepting an offer.
