INTRODUCTION
At Klaviyo, we value the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives each Klaviyo (we call ourselves Klaviyos) brings to our workplace each and every day. We believe everyone deserves a fair shot at success and appreciate the experiences each person brings beyond the traditional job requirements. If you’re a close but not exact match with the description, we hope you’ll still consider applying. Want to learn more about life at Klaviyo? Visit klaviyo.com/careers to see how we empower creators to own their own destiny.
Klaviyo is on a mission to build a world-class, AI-first engineering organization. To do this, we’re looking for a Lead Product Manager of Developer Experience who will craft and drive the vision for our internal development environment. In this role, you’ll treat developers as your customers — making their daily workflows faster, safer, and more joyful. Your work will directly impact how quickly and confidently Klaviyo engineers can build, test, and release high-quality products.
In this role, you’ll partner deeply with Engineering leaders across Developer Infra, SRE, and product teams to shape how Klaviyo develops software. Your focus will be on outcomes: enabling faster cycle times, reducing incidents, leveraging AI to automate toil, and making Klaviyo a magnet for top engineering talent. Please note this is a hybrid role and requires 3 days/week in our Boston office. Fully remote candidates will not be considered at this time.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do:
- Set the Vision: Define the product strategy for Klaviyo’s developer environment, aligning to our Need for Speed program — targeting massive improvements in engineering velocity, developer experience, and quality.
- Make Developers Your Customers: Treat Klaviyo engineers as the primary stakeholders. Identify pain points across the PDLC (coding, testing, deployment, maintenance) and prioritize investments that meaningfully improve their productivity and happiness.
- Accelerate with AI: Institutionalize AI as a force multiplier — from autonomous code agents to AI copilots for reviews and testing. Ensure Klaviyo leads in adopting AI-first development practices, reducing friction without compromising safety.
- Deliver Measurable Outcomes: Drive success metrics such as PR throughput, cycle time, change failure rate, developer experience index, and AI tool adoption.
- Champion Quality & Safety: Partner with SRE and QE to ensure reliability and safety are built into every paved path — incidents and defects decrease even as velocity increases.
- Scale for the Future: Guide architecture and tooling choices that will keep Klaviyo’s developer experience sustainable and scalable for years to come.
- Be Data-Driven: Establish instrumentation, run surveys, and analyze metrics to continuously validate impact and adjust based on outcomes, not assumptions.
- Build for Collaboration: Create transparency and open feedback loops with engineers, EMs, and leadership to ensure alignment and adoption of developer tooling and practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Who You Are:
- Strategic Builder: You’re an Engineering leader turned Product thinker or Founder. Or you’ve led product for developer platforms, infrastructure, or tools, with a track record of improving engineering velocity and reliability.
- Developer-Centric Thinker: You deeply empathize with engineers and have experience making their workflows easier, faster, and safer.
- AI-Forward Mindset: You understand the transformative potential of AI in software development and can separate hype from practical value.
- Metrics-Oriented: You are fluent in measuring success via engineering productivity, quality, and reliability metrics (e.g., PR throughput, CFR, incident rates, DevEx indices).
- Influential Collaborator: You can partner with senior engineering leaders (Infra, SRE, QE, product teams) and influence without authority.
- Bias for Action: You thrive in fast-moving environments, balance short-term wins with long-term strategy, and bias toward automation and self-service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Success in This Role Looks Like:
- Klaviyo engineers feel they can deliver faster, safer, and with higher confidence than ever before.
- AI tools are seamlessly integrated into workflows, with widespread adoption and measurable productivity gains.
- Development cycle times shrink, while incidents, defect escapes, and change failure rates decrease.
- Developers rank Klaviyo’s internal tooling and environment as best-in-class, making it a competitive advantage in attracting and retaining talent.
- The Dev Infra & SRE product strategy is clear, measurable, and directly tied to Klaviyo’s ability to deliver customer value quickly and reliably.
