ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ERGONEXT is looking for an actuarial data scientist to oversee all aspects of technical actuarial modeling, including technical pricing models, actuarial systems and infrastructure. This role will be responsible for oversight of a team of actuarial data scientists supporting ERGO NEXT from the ERGO Global Pricing Hub, as well as provide oversight to actuarial aspects of models built by ERGO NEXT actuaries and data scientists. This is a high visibility and high impact role that will transform how ERGO NEXT delivers pricing and technical actuarial products that meet or exceed Global ERGO Technical Excellence standards.
What you'll do:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop a strategic roadmap and project plans for ERGO NEXT's engagement with the ERGO Pricing Hub
- Establish and manage projects to timelines, ensure projects deliver high quality output
- Establish ERGO NEXT as a leader in technical excellence in pricing, both within ERGO NEXT and in the global ERGO community
Actuarial Excellence:
- Develop cutting edge technical frameworks for actuarial modeling that leverage the latest AI and ML technological capabilities and actuarial research
- Establish standards for actuarial model review and validation and deploy these standards across all actuarial technical modeling work
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure actuarial modeling meets US actuarial professional and legal standards.
Collaboration, Influence & People Management:
- Work regularly with executive staff on critical business issues, providing insights and solutions that support strategic priorities
- Ability to translate complex data into compelling executive-level presentations
- Communicate and influence decision-making across multiple functional areas on results of studies and analytics
- Ability to delegate and direct individuals supporting individual projects and hold a high standard of quality in the work produced by the individuals
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- FCAS/ACAS mandatory
- 8+ years of experience in a variety of actuarial domains, especially pricing
- Familiarity with small commercial P&C insurance products
- Comfortable using AI platforms to accelerate delivery and augment work products
- Experience applying machine learning techniques to actuarial pricing
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence
- Comfortable working across time zones and countries
- Project management experience, people management experience a plus
- Ability to manage and lead in a fast paced environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience coding with SQL/R/Python
- Machine Learning Algorithms and Feature Engineering
- Data visualization in Tableau, PowerBi, or similar
- Experience in actuarial software platforms such as Akur8 or Radar
- Forward thinking approach to leveraging AI platforms (such as Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT) to drive operational efficiencies
