The successful candidate will have a strong command of data tools, a structured approach to problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
About the team:
The Pricing Competitive Intelligence team is responsible for the analytical capabilities that underpin Sam's Club's price leadership strategy. Operating at the intersection of data, merchandising strategy, and member experience, the team translates market signals into decisions that affect members and revenue outcomes.
- Competitive Intelligence — Analyzing third-party competitor pricing data
- Item Matching — Identifying comparable products across retailers to enable consistent price comparisons
- Price Gap Analytics — Quantifying Sam's Club's price position relative to key competitors across all categories
What you'll do:
- Extract, clean, and analyze competitive pricing datasets to identify price gaps, trends, and category-level opportunities
- Author SQL queries to extract and transform data from large-scale pricing and sales databases
- Develop and maintain recurring reporting tools, including dashboards in PowerBI or Tableau and analytical models in Excel
- Monitor price gap movements and communicate material changes to Pricing and Merchandising leadership with supporting analysis and clear recommendations
- Collaborate with Technology and Analytics/Decision Science teams to improve data pipelines and reduce manual processing
- Prepare and deliver concise analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation tools to improve the efficiency of competitive workflows

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience analyzing large, complex datasets and synthesizing findings into clear business narratives
- Proficiency in SQL, including joins, aggregations, filtering, and data transformation
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to build structured, repeatable analytical models
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, including with technical teams such as engineering or data science
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
- Familiarity with Python for data processing or workflow automation
- Experience incorporating AI-assisted tools into analytical or reporting workflows
- Background in retail, merchandising, pricing strategy, or competitive market analysis

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
