Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Concrete Finisher
Get your credentials assessed before applying
Australian three-year construction or civil engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree. Request a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before you approach employers, so your qualifications are documented and ready.
Target commercial and infrastructure contractors directly
Large commercial builders and infrastructure contractors handle LCA filings regularly and understand specialty occupation requirements. Search DOL's FLAG portal to find employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for construction-related roles in the states where you want to work.
Clarify the specialty occupation framing early
Many employers assume Concrete Finisher roles don't qualify for E-3 because they're classified as trade positions. Frame your application around the technical knowledge component, including mix design, surface tolerance standards, or project supervision, to support the specialty occupation case in your LCA.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have a job offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment, and errors in prevailing wage classification can delay or derail the process.
Confirm your employer's E-Verify enrollment before signing
STEM-related and government-contracted construction employers are often E-Verify enrolled, but many smaller contractors are not. Ask your prospective employer about E-Verify status before accepting an offer, since it affects onboarding timelines and certain state-level compliance requirements.
Time your consulate appointment around project start dates
E-3 consulate processing in Sydney or Melbourne typically takes two to four weeks after your interview. Confirm your project start date with your employer before scheduling, and factor in that the LCA certification from DOL takes around seven business days to come through.

Find Concrete Finisher JobsConcrete Finisher E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Concrete Finisher jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended way to search for Concrete Finisher roles where employers are open to E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship willingness, so you end up applying to roles where the employer has no experience with the E-3 process. Migrate Mate surfaces positions where sponsorship is already part of the conversation.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Concrete Finisher role actually qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. The E-3 requires the position to normally require a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific field. A standard laborer role won't qualify, but a Concrete Finisher position that requires applied knowledge of mix design, structural tolerances, or surface finishing to ACI or ASTM standards can be framed as a specialty occupation, especially if the employer documents the technical requirements in the LCA.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Concrete Finisher roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time of year and get a decision within weeks. The H-1B is open to all nationalities but subject to an oversubscribed lottery, meaning most applicants aren't selected. For an Australian Concrete Finisher who meets the specialty occupation threshold, the E-3 is a far more reliable path.
Can I change employers or projects while on an E-3 as a Concrete Finisher?
Yes, but your employer must file a new LCA with DOL and you'll need updated visa documentation before you start working for the new company. Unlike the H-1B, there's no formal portability rule that lets you start work while the new petition is pending. Plan for a gap of at least two to three weeks between roles to allow for LCA certification and any consulate steps.
