Position Specific Description
This Proprietary Natural Gas Trader is responsible for building and trading NextEra Energy Marketing’s physical gas portfolio in the Permian and Southwest region. Proprietary Traders apply a high level of competency in trading strategies, pipeline rules, physical market knowledge, financial products, and regulatory policies.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Performing individual research
- Profitable deal execution
- Deal entry management
- Monthly reconciliations
- Transacting physical gas, transport, storage, and financial basis
- Creating markets for origination and asset optimization groups
- Applying knowledge of Texas and Southwest natural gas infrastructure
- Managing a profitable proprietary trading book
Individuals in this role may be responsible for after-hours and weekend work on an as-needed basis.

This position is responsible for trading energy commodities, options, heat rates, and energy products in various markets the tenure of trade ranges from intraday through 5 years, depending on assigned book.
