Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Automotive Technician
Get your credentials formally evaluated first
Australian trade qualifications and Certificate IV in Automotive Technology aren't automatically recognized as U.S. degree equivalents. Request a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying, so employers can confirm your qualifications meet the E-3 specialty occupation standard.
Target dealerships with dedicated HR infrastructure
Franchise dealerships tied to major manufacturers are more likely to have handled E-3 or H-1B sponsorship before. Independent shops rarely have the HR capacity to file an LCA with the DOL, so focus your search on multi-location groups and national fleet operators.
Search verified E-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Finding Automotive Technician roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship history saves weeks of cold outreach. Migrate Mate filters jobs by visa sponsorship availability, so you're only seeing employers who've already committed to the process.
Frame your specialization to satisfy specialty occupation
Generic mechanic roles can struggle to meet the E-3 specialty occupation definition. Roles in EV diagnostics, advanced driver-assistance systems calibration, or OEM warranty repair carry clearer degree-field alignment and are easier for employers to justify in an LCA filing.
Clarify LCA obligations with your employer early
Before accepting an offer, confirm your employer understands they must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying the prevailing wage. Delays happen when employers discover this requirement after making an offer, not before.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This keeps the process on track and avoids the documentation gaps that cause appointment delays.

Find Automotive Technician JobsAutomotive Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Automotive Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Automotive Technician roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Most general job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up cold-applying to employers who haven't considered sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers who are already open to the E-3 process, saving you time and avoiding dead ends.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Automotive Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. The E-3 requires the position to theoretically and practically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles focused on EV systems, OEM-level diagnostics, or ADAS calibration have a stronger case than general service technician positions. Your employer needs to demonstrate the degree requirement in the LCA filing, so specialization matters.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Automotive Technician roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals, but it has no lottery and no annual cap, which means you can apply at any time of year. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a 25% selection rate. For Australians, the E-3 is the more reliable path. Both visas require the role to meet the specialty occupation standard, so the degree-field alignment requirement is the same.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as an Automotive Technician?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with the new employer. Your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer and LCA on file. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp if you travel internationally before starting. There's no formal portability provision like the one available under the H-1B, so plan transitions carefully to avoid gaps in authorized status.
