Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Refrigeration Technician
Get your credentials assessed before applying
U.S. employers need to confirm your Australian TAFE qualifications or trade certificates meet the E-3 specialty occupation standard. A formal credential evaluation from a NACES-approved body converts your Australian qualifications into terms U.S. hiring managers and DOL understand.
Target employers with active DOL filing history
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for refrigeration or HVAC roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process are far less likely to decline sponsorship over paperwork concerns.
Frame your resume around specialty occupation evidence
The E-3 requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, so your resume must show degree-level knowledge applied to refrigeration systems, not just hands-on trade work. Highlight design calculations, system commissioning, or energy compliance work that signals professional-level responsibility.
Negotiate LCA filing before giving notice in Australia
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can apply at the consulate. Confirm the LCA timeline with your employer in writing during the offer stage so you don't resign your current role before the certification is in hand.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation. This avoids the common mistake of submitting an LCA with job duties too vague to satisfy specialty occupation requirements.
Clarify E-3 status at the consulate, not on arrival
Refrigeration roles sometimes attract extra scrutiny at the border if the CBP officer questions whether the position requires a degree. Carry your LCA, offer letter, and credential evaluation in your carry-on so you can present supporting documentation if asked at the port of entry.

Find Refrigeration Technician JobsRefrigeration Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Refrigeration Technician jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that come with E-3 visa sponsorship. The platform filters listings by visa type, so you're only seeing employers open to sponsoring Australians, not generic job postings where sponsorship availability is unclear.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Refrigeration Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is structured. Roles involving system design, engineering compliance, or technical commissioning that require degree-level knowledge in mechanical or refrigeration engineering can qualify. Trade-level roles focused solely on installation or repair, without a degree requirement, typically do not meet the E-3 specialty occupation standard. The job description and your credentials both matter.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Refrigeration Technicians?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap that affects most applicants, so you can apply as soon as you have a job offer and a certified LCA. H-1B requires surviving a random lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate. For Australian refrigeration professionals with a qualifying offer, the E-3 is a far more reliable path into the U.S. job market.
Can my employer sponsor my E-3 if they've never hired an Australian before?
Yes, there's no requirement for prior E-3 sponsorship experience. The employer needs to file a Labor Condition Application with DOL certifying the prevailing wage and working conditions, then support your consulate application with an offer letter and LCA. Many first-time sponsors complete this process without issue once they understand the steps involved.
