Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Equipment Service Technician
Match your credentials to specialty occupation
The E-3 visa requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field must be standard for the position. Frame your Australian engineering or technical degree against the job's posted requirements before applying.
Target manufacturers with established service divisions
Industrial equipment manufacturers, medical device companies, and aerospace MRO providers regularly sponsor E-3 visas because their technician roles carry defined degree requirements. Search for openings at companies with active DOL Labor Condition Application filings in equipment service categories.
Address your Australian degree equivalency upfront
U.S. consular officers accept Australian three-year bachelor's degrees as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes. Attach your official transcripts and a credential evaluation letter to your application packet so the employer can reference them when preparing your LCA.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
Your employer must file and receive a certified LCA from the DOL before your visa appointment can proceed. Build at least two to three weeks for LCA certification into your start-date discussion so neither party is caught short when scheduling your consulate interview.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Equipment service roles often involve third-party worksites or multiple client locations, which can complicate LCA filings. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork accurately, reducing the risk of a consular rejection over worksite documentation errors.
Prepare a service record portfolio for the interview
Consular officers verify that your background supports the specialty occupation claim. Bring a portfolio of equipment certifications, manufacturer training records, and a letter from your employer detailing the technical complexity of the role and its degree requirement.
E-3 Visa Equipment Service Technician: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Equipment Service Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate's job board, which filters roles by E-3 visa sponsorship eligibility and employer filing history. Standard job searches rarely distinguish between employers willing to file an LCA and those who aren't. Migrate Mate surfaces companies that have sponsored E-3 or similar visas, so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Equipment Service Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the role description must establish that a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related discipline, is a standard requirement for the position. Roles framed around general trade skills or where any technical background suffices are harder to defend as specialty occupations. Your offer letter and LCA should clearly articulate the degree requirement and how your Australian qualifications meet it.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Equipment Service Technician positions?
The E-3 is available exclusively to Australian nationals and has no lottery, so you don't compete for a limited pool of slots the way H-1B visa applicants do. You can apply at a U.S. consulate in Australia and begin work after approval, whereas H-1B requires an October 1 start date tied to the fiscal year lottery. For employers, E-3 sponsorship is also faster and less expensive than H-1B, which makes them more willing to proceed.
Can I transfer my E-3 visa if I change employers or move to a different service site?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA certified by the DOL before you can begin work for them. The E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply carry it over. If your role involves servicing equipment at multiple client locations, each worksite must be covered under your employer's LCA, and your visa approval is tied to that specific employer's petition.
