Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Fleet Technician
Translate your Australian qualifications precisely
A Certificate IV or Diploma in Automotive Technology won't map directly to U.S. specialty occupation requirements. Document how your credentials combine with work experience to equal a U.S. bachelor's degree before your employer files the LCA.
Target fleet operators with existing E-3 history
Large logistics companies, municipal fleet departments, and national transport operators are more likely to understand E-3 sponsorship than smaller workshops. Search DOL's Foreign Labor Application Gateway for LCA filings under fleet or vehicle maintenance job titles.
Verify the role meets specialty occupation criteria
Not every fleet technician position qualifies. The job posting must require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field. Roles advertised as accepting any degree or no degree will fail USCIS scrutiny at the consulate stage.
Prepare your technical credentials portfolio early
Gather Australian trade licenses, ASE equivalent certifications, employer letters confirming your specialization, and academic transcripts. Consular officers in Sydney and Melbourne routinely request supporting evidence that your background matches the specialty occupation definition.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your consulate appointment can proceed. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the entire process from LCA submission through visa paperwork so your employer doesn't need prior E-3 experience.
Negotiate the E-3 filing timeline into your offer
LCA certification typically takes seven business days, then DS-160 completion and consulate scheduling add several more weeks. Align your proposed start date to reflect this sequence so your employer isn't caught off-guard by a six-to-eight-week lead time.

Find Fleet Technician JobsFleet Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Fleet Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to find Fleet Technician roles with confirmed E-3 sponsorship. Most generic job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up cold-applying to employers who have never sponsored a work visa. Migrate Mate surfaces employers who are already set up to hire Australian professionals on E-3, saving you the back-and-forth of explaining the visa from scratch.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Fleet Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the position is defined and what the employer requires. A fleet technician role that mandates a bachelor's degree in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, or fleet management qualifies. Roles that accept any degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree are harder to defend at the consulate. Your employer's job description and the LCA wording both matter significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Fleet Technician roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but that exclusivity works in your favour. There's no lottery, no annual cap, and the 10,500 yearly allocation has never been exhausted. The H-1B requires surviving a random lottery before any petition can be filed. For an Australian fleet technician with a qualifying job offer, the E-3 is a straightforward path the H-1B simply can't match for reliability.
Can my Australian trade qualifications satisfy the E-3 degree requirement?
A formal bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is the cleanest path. If you hold a Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma combined with substantial industry experience, a credentials evaluation from a USCIS-recognised evaluation service can establish equivalency. The three-for-one rule applies: three years of specialised work experience can substitute for one year of formal education, so 12 years of fleet-specific experience can stand in for a four-year degree.
