E-3 Visa Plumber Jobs
Plumber roles in the U.S. can qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position meets the specialty occupation standard, typically requiring a licensed trade qualification assessed as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. Australian plumbers with journeyman credentials and a U.S. job offer can apply for a two-year, indefinitely renewable E-3 without competing in any lottery.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Plumber
Get your Australian licence credential-evaluated
A NAPPER or WES credential evaluation translates your Australian Certificate III or IV in Plumbing into a U.S.-equivalent qualification. Without this, employers can't confirm specialty occupation status and won't file your LCA.
Target employers in OECD-compliant states
States like Texas, Florida, and California have large commercial construction pipelines and regularly hire internationally licensed plumbers. Filter your search to employers who already hold active DOL Labour Condition Applications for trade roles.
Request a specialty occupation framing in your offer letter
Ask your employer to describe the role using degree-requirement language in the offer letter, referencing the theoretical and practical knowledge the position demands. Vague job titles like 'general plumber' can stall your LCA certification.
Confirm your employer is E-Verify enrolled before accepting
E-3 sponsorship requires your employer to file an LCA with the DOL. Employers already enrolled in E-Verify have smoother LCA processing. Verify enrollment status directly with HR before you sign anything.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your LCA and consulate paperwork
Plumbing E-3 cases often face scrutiny over specialty occupation documentation. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages your LCA filing, visa application, and consulate preparation end-to-end so nothing gets missed.
Book your consulate appointment immediately after LCA certification
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days. Schedule your consulate interview in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth the same week certification comes through, since appointment slots at busy consulates fill quickly.

Find Plumber JobsPlumber E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find plumber jobs in the U.S. with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces U.S. employers with active E-3 and LCA filing history, so you can filter for plumbing and construction roles where sponsorship is already on the table. Searching general job boards exposes you to listings where visa sponsorship is either unavailable or unstated, which wastes time during what is often a tight visa window.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a plumber role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but it requires careful framing. USCIS defines specialty occupation as a role requiring theoretical and practical application of highly specialised knowledge and at minimum a bachelor's degree or equivalent. A licensed commercial or industrial plumber with a Certificate III or IV assessed as degree-equivalent can meet this standard, particularly in complex mechanical, medical-gas, or high-rise projects where generic trade qualifications are insufficient.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian plumbers?
The E-3 has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B caps at 85,000 per year and requires lottery selection, making it unreliable for most applicants. For Australian plumbers, the E-3 is the practical path. The trade-off is that the E-3 is tied to employer sponsorship, so you restart the LCA process if you change jobs.
What happens to my E-3 status if I change plumbing employers in the U.S.?
Your E-3 is employer-specific. If you change employers, your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or, in limited cases, change status from inside the country. You can work for the new employer once their LCA is certified and you hold valid status, but there's no H-1B-style portability rule that lets you transfer automatically.
