Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Electrical Maintenance Technician
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
A three-year Australian electrical engineering degree is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's for E-3 purposes. Get a formal credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before submitting applications so employers don't question your eligibility.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure database for employers who have filed LCAs for electrical maintenance or industrial technician roles. These employers already understand the E-3 process and won't need to be educated on sponsorship from scratch.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs specifically by E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting applications on employers who won't sponsor. Use it to find Electrical Maintenance Technician openings where the hiring team already knows the E-3 process.
Frame your electrical licence as a U.S. credential gap
Your Australian electrical licence doesn't automatically transfer. Research state-specific licensing requirements early and tell employers you're prepared to sit the relevant exam. Proactively addressing this removes a common objection before it stalls your offer.
Negotiate LCA filing into your offer timeline
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but your employer needs to post the notice and file before your consulate appointment. Confirm your start date accounts for this step so your visa application isn't delayed after you've accepted an offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your paperwork
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. This avoids the common mistake of employers stalling the process because they're unfamiliar with E-3 documentation requirements.

Find Electrical Maintenance Technician JobsElectrical Maintenance Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Electrical Maintenance Technician jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Electrical Maintenance Technician roles filtered by E-3 visa sponsorship. Because the E-3 requires employer-filed LCAs, you need employers who already understand the process. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where hiring teams are set up to sponsor Australian nationals, saving you from applications that go nowhere.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Electrical Maintenance Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline typically qualify. Roles framed around trade skills alone, without a formal degree requirement, are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard. Your job offer letter and your employer's LCA must both reflect the degree requirement clearly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Electrical Maintenance Technician roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens but has no lottery and no annual cap, so you can apply any time of year once you have a job offer. The H-1B is subject to a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate. For Australians in this field, the E-3 is a far more predictable path to U.S. employment.
Can I change employers after starting work on an E-3 as an Electrical Maintenance Technician?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. or, in some cases, a change of status if you're already inside the country. There's no portability provision like the one available under H-1B, so plan your transition timeline carefully to avoid gaps in authorisation.
