Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Mechanic
Verify your credentials meet specialty occupation
The E-3 requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Document how your mechanical engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification directly ties to the specific duties of the position, not just the job title.
Target employers with existing visa infrastructure
Fleet operators, aerospace manufacturers, and heavy equipment companies that already sponsor work visas have HR teams familiar with LCA filings. Approaching these employers reduces the back-and-forth about whether E-3 sponsorship is feasible.
Frame your Australian trade equivalency clearly
USCIS accepts three years of relevant work experience as equivalent to one year of formal education. If your qualification is a trade certificate rather than a bachelor's degree, document the experience-to-education substitution before you start applying.
Confirm the LCA is filed before your interview
Your employer must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL before you can attend your consulate appointment. Many E-3 delays happen because applicants schedule the interview before the LCA is approved, which typically takes around seven business days.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Mechanic sponsorship cases sometimes involve complex specialty occupation arguments. Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service handles the LCA, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end, reducing the risk of documentation gaps that could delay your start date.
Search specifically for E-3 sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Generic job searches won't filter for employers open to E-3 sponsorship. Migrate Mate lets you search Mechanic roles specifically flagged for E-3 visa sponsorship, so you're targeting employers already prepared to support the process.

Find Mechanic JobsMechanic E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Mechanic jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to search for Mechanic roles where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Standard job searches rarely surface sponsorship intent, so you can spend weeks applying to roles where the employer won't support a visa. Migrate Mate filters specifically for E-3-ready employers, saving you time and targeting your applications more effectively.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Mechanic role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It depends on how the role is defined. Mechanic positions that require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or a closely related field can qualify. General trade mechanic roles that don't require a degree typically won't meet the specialty occupation standard. The job description and your employer's internal requirements both factor into how USCIS evaluates the application.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Mechanic roles?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has a 10,500 annual cap that has never been reached, so there's no lottery. The H-1B is open to all nationalities but requires a lottery with roughly one-in-four selection odds. For an Australian mechanic with a qualifying degree, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path than competing in the H-1B lottery each March.
Can my employer sponsor my E-3 if they've never done it before?
Yes. Employers don't need prior E-3 experience. The process starts with filing a Labor Condition Application through DOL's FLAG system, which your employer completes before your consulate appointment. Many smaller employers, including auto dealerships and fleet maintenance companies, go through this for the first time with Australian hires. The paperwork is straightforward compared to H-1B, and the employer bears most of the filing burden.
