INTRODUCTION
This is the first dedicated Revenue Operations hire in Mainspring’s history. We’re commercializing the linear generator — a breakthrough technology that converts a wide range of fuels directly into electricity — with a growing fleet of deployed systems and strong commercial traction.
You won’t be stepping into a defined lane. You’ll own the full quote-to-cash cycle, bring the technical accounting rigor our complex revenue streams demand, and build the processes that carry us through our next phase of growth. You’ll report directly to the VP of Finance and Controller, sit at the center of our most critical financial workflows, and have a front-row seat to everything ahead of us.
This is a role for someone who wants real ownership — not a process to maintain, but a function to build. If you’re technically sharp, hungry to make an impact, and motivated by meaningful work at a company solving a real energy challenge, read on.
- Direct report to VP of Finance
- IPO-readiness work
- AI & cloud adoption in finance
- Mission-driven clean energy company
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606): Lead recognition analysis for all contracts — multi-element arrangements, milestone payments, third-party financing overlays. Document and defend positions with the Controller and external auditors.
- Invoicing & billing: Drive the full cycle across equipment sales, LTSAs, O&M contracts, and project engagements. Own the Salesforce-to-NetSuite handoff — and improve it.
- Accounts receivable & collections: Manage the AR ledger end-to-end: aging, cash application, collections, reconciliation, and KPI reporting to Finance leadership.
- Project accounting & advances: Track revenue, cost, and margin by project. Manage customer advance payments from receipt through milestone-based revenue release.
- Project finance support: Maintain billing and AR records in support of lender reporting, covenant compliance, and financing due diligence.
- Sales tax compliance: Own multi-jurisdiction tax determination, exemption certificates, and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Process improvement: This is where you leave your mark. Automate, streamline, and build the SOPs and system integrations that scale with the business.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You have deep, practical experience in revenue accounting or revenue operations — and you’ve been in the room when ASC 606 questions get complicated. You’ve managed billing tied to milestones, navigated financing overlays, and answered an auditor’s question without needing to check with anyone first. Just as important: you see the current manual workflow and want to fix it, not just run it.
- 6+ years in revenue operations, revenue accounting, or a closely related finance role
- ASC 606 depth: multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, performance obligations — you can document and defend positions, not just describe them
- Experience with project accounting or percentage-of-completion revenue models
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex billing arrangements tied to contractual milestones
- NetSuite (preferred) and Salesforce; hands-on experience with the quote-to-cash workflow
- End-to-end ownership experience: invoicing, AR, collections, and booking revenue entries
- Comfort managing a manual, spreadsheet-driven process while building toward automation and process improvement leveraging AI
- Strong cross-functional communication — you can hold your own with auditors, Sales, Ops, and Legal, Project delivery
- Great communication skills and willing to be proactive when communicating cross-functionally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Energy, cleantech, capital equipment, or project-based industry experience
- Big Four background or public company revenue accounting experience
- CPA or progress toward CPA
- Exposure to project finance structures: tax equity, sale-leaseback, debt facilities
- Familiarity with long-term service agreements (LTSAs) or operations & maintenance (O&M) contract structures
- Experience managing customer advances and deposits in a project-based business
- CPA or progress toward CPA
This position is onsite at our Menlo Park HQ. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee. Along with the base salary, Mainspring offers pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Revenue Operations Lead
Frame your degree for specialty occupation
Revenue Operations draws on business systems, data analysis, and process design. Make sure your transcripts and credential evaluation show a direct field match, since an assessor reviewing your LCA application will look for degree-to-role alignment, not just any bachelor's degree.
Target companies with existing LCA approval history
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for employers who have filed LCAs for Revenue Operations or closely related titles. A company that has run this process before will move faster and make fewer errors during your sponsorship.
Address the prevailing wage question early
The LCA requires your employer to certify your salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for the role and location. Raise this in the offer stage, not after signing, so there's no renegotiation needed once the DOL wage level is confirmed.
Clarify reporting structure when roles span entities
Revenue Operations Leads often sit across sales, marketing, and finance, sometimes reporting to different cost centers. Your employer must specify a single legal entity as the E-3 petitioner for the LCA, so confirm which entity will formally employ you before the offer is finalized.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end preparation
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA filing, DS-160, and consulate preparation. Coordinating these steps across DOL and State Department timelines is where delays most commonly happen.
Prepare for consulate questions about role scope
Consular officers in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth will ask how your day-to-day responsibilities require a specialist degree. Bring documentation showing the technical systems, analytical tools, or business methodology your role depends on, not just a job description.

Find Revenue Operations Lead JobsRevenue Operations Lead E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Revenue Operations Lead jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. Unlike general job boards, it filters for employers who have sponsorship history and understand the E-3 process, which saves you from spending weeks applying to companies that will decline once they learn visa paperwork is involved.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Revenue Operations Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, finance, data analytics, or a related discipline. The key is that the role must not be fillable by someone without that specialized degree. If the job posting states a degree is preferred rather than required, work with your employer to tighten the language before the LCA is filed with the DOL.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for a Revenue Operations Lead role?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual numerical cap, so an employer can sponsor you at any time of year without entering a random selection. The H-1B cap-subject process runs once a year with a lottery, meaning even a well-qualified candidate may go unselected. For Revenue Operations roles, which are increasingly in demand year-round, the E-3's open filing window is a practical advantage for both you and the hiring team.
Can I switch employers while on an E-3 as a Revenue Operations Lead?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally after the change. You can start working for the new employer once the LCA is certified and you have a valid visa for that employer's petition, but you cannot port an E-3 the way some other visa categories allow mid-approval transfers.
