About the Team
Droyd builds autonomous robotic systems that automate repetitive manual work in real environments. We design and manufacture our hardware in-house, which means iteration, fabrication, and execution all happen under one roof.
To operate reliably in the real world, our robots need strong electrical systems for power delivery, conversion, and subsystem integration. Our hardware team works across motors, mobile systems, batteries, and supporting power electronics — work that sits at the core of making the robot dependable and scalable.
About the Role
As an Electrical Engineer at Droyd, you will focus on system-level electrical design across motors, power, and platform integration. You will help build the electrical backbone of the robot, including power conversion and the systems that support motion and mobile operation.
This role is ideal for someone comfortable working across practical electrical architecture, hardware integration, and power-related engineering challenges.
This role is based on-site in San Francisco, CA.
In This Role, You'll
Power & Motor Systems
Design and integrate electrical systems for motors, mobile platforms, and robot subsystems
Work on power delivery, power conversion, and battery-adjacent systems
Support electrical architecture for 24–48V systems and related hardware
Prototyping & Reliability
Prototype, test, debug, and iterate on electrical subsystems quickly
Help improve robustness and reliability of the robot's electrical platform
Integration
Collaborate closely with mechanical and robotics teams on system integration
Make sound engineering decisions around electrical architecture and reliability
Work Environment & Schedule
On-site in San Francisco, CA
Full-time
Compensation: $150K–$210K base salary, plus equity
We're Looking For Candidates Who
Have strong experience with system-level electrical engineering
Have worked on motors, power systems, or mobile electrical platforms
Are comfortable with practical integration and debugging on real hardware
Can make sound engineering decisions around electrical architecture and reliability
Thrive in a fast-moving hardware startup environment
Nice to have:
Experience with robotics or mechatronic systems
Experience with power electronics or converters
Experience with batteries, motor systems, or mobile robots
About Droyd
Droyd builds autonomous robotic systems that operate in real production environments. We design the hardware, develop the control stack, and generate the data that enables generalist robotics.
If we do this right, robots stop being demos and start being infrastructure.
Join us and help build the systems that make it real.
Compensation Range: $150K - $210K

Electrical Systems Engineer Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a electrical systems engineer job in San Francisco?
Focus your search on San Francisco's clean energy, semiconductor, and defense-adjacent tech sectors, where electrical systems engineers are consistently in demand. Roles concentrate in SoMa, Mission Bay, and the Dogpatch, with additional openings in the broader Peninsula corridor. Candidates who can demonstrate experience with power electronics, embedded systems, or hardware-software integration tend to stand out, as do those with exposure to regulated industries like medical devices or aerospace.
Which companies hire electrical systems engineers in San Francisco?
Employers hiring electrical systems engineers in San Francisco right now include Affiliated Engineers, PAE Consulting Engineers, and DoorDash, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's hiring mix includes hardware startups, established defense and aerospace contractors, and clean technology companies drawn to the city's deep engineering talent pool.
Are there remote electrical systems engineer jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though with limits: electrical systems engineering is largely a hands-on discipline, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely software-focused fields. About 15% of electrical systems engineer openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, mostly covering design, simulation, and systems architecture work rather than lab or hardware validation roles.
How can I get a electrical systems engineer job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is targeting hardware startups and clean energy companies in Mission Bay and SoMa, which hire junior engineers for test, validation, and design support roles more readily than large defense primes. Relevant coursework in power systems or embedded hardware, a project portfolio, and familiarity with tools like MATLAB or Altium give entry-level candidates a concrete edge in San Francisco's competitive market.
Which industries hire the most electrical systems engineers in San Francisco?
The sectors hiring the most electrical systems engineers in San Francisco are Consulting & Professional Services, Technology & Software, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. San Francisco's concentration of hardware-forward startups, clean energy ventures, and advanced manufacturing firms in Mission Bay and the broader SoMa district drives consistent local demand for this role.
