Who's Hiring

Electrical Technician Jobs in Richmond: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an electrical technician job in Richmond?
Richmond's strongest hiring comes from its utilities infrastructure, commercial construction boom along the Boulevard and downtown core, and the defense and government contractor presence in the broader metro. Candidates with hands-on PLC, conduit bending, or low-voltage systems experience stand out. Targeting industrial employers in Chesterfield County and Scott's Addition, and reaching out directly to electrical contractors active on Richmond's ongoing development projects, gives applicants a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire electrical technicians in Richmond?
Employers hiring electrical technicians in Richmond right now include ABB, Veolia, and Sender Vans, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Richmond's mix of utilities providers, defense contractors, and commercial electrical contractors means openings appear across both large institutional employers and regional specialty firms.
Are there remote electrical technician jobs in Richmond?
Yes, but with significant limits. Electrical technician work is mostly hands-on and site-dependent, so fully remote roles are rare. About 0% of electrical technician openings tied to Richmond are remote or hybrid as of November 2026. The roles most likely to allow remote or hybrid arrangements are those focused on technical documentation, systems design review, or remote monitoring of building automation and SCADA systems.
How can I get an electrical technician job in Richmond with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Richmond is through apprenticeship programs run by local electrical contractors and the IBEW Local 666, which sponsors paid apprenticeships open to candidates without prior experience. Entry-level roles like electrical helper or maintenance technician assistant appear regularly with commercial construction firms working the downtown and Scott's Addition corridors. Completing a technical program at Reynolds Community College and earning an entry-level certification such as OSHA 10 strengthens any application considerably.
