This role contributes to organizational success by owning the capital planning and portfolio management function for the enterprise capital program. The Engineering Program Manager, Capital Planning and Portfolio Management delivers five core functions: Capital System Management – administering the systems, workflows, standards and governance that run the capital process end to end; Capital Portfolio Management – building and maintaining the annual and multi-year capital plan, prioritizing and phasing investments, and reallocating funding as business conditions change; Investment Business Case – partnering with stakeholders and Finance to develop and validate the business case for each investment; Enterprise Stage Gating – applying the Enterprise Stage Gate Process in partnership with the PMO so that projects advance on consistent readiness criteria; and Reporting – producing the spend, forecast and performance visibility that leadership, Finance and project teams rely on to make investment decisions. The role operates across the Global Supply Chain manufacturing and distribution network and serves as the single point of accountability for capital portfolio data integrity. Engineering Manager Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a engineering manager job in Seattle?
The strongest path in Seattle is building depth in software, cloud, or biotech engineering teams, since those sectors drive the bulk of local demand. Candidates who stand out typically have hands-on experience leading distributed teams inside a high-growth product org or a large enterprise tech division. Targeting employers in South Lake Union and Bellevue's tech clusters, and networking through local engineering meetups, gives you a concrete edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire engineering managers in Seattle?
Employers hiring engineering managers in Seattle right now include Amazon, Blue Origin, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Seattle's hiring pool leans heavily toward large-scale tech companies, cloud platform teams, and a growing wave of health-tech and aerospace firms with engineering leadership needs.
Are there remote engineering manager jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though remote opportunities depend heavily on the org, since engineering managers often need to be present for team rituals, hiring panels, and cross-functional alignment. About 63% of engineering manager openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid being far more common than fully remote. Roles at cloud and SaaS companies in the South Lake Union corridor tend to offer the most scheduling flexibility.
How can I get a engineering manager job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a tech lead or senior engineer role at a mid-size Seattle product company, then stepping into a people-management scope on an existing team. Seattle startups in the South Lake Union and Capitol Hill corridors regularly promote strong individual contributors into first-time manager roles. Volunteering to lead an intern cohort or a cross-team initiative at your current employer also builds the leadership evidence Seattle hiring managers look for.
Which industries hire the most engineering managers in Seattle?
Most engineering manager openings in Seattle sit in Technology & Software, Retail, and Banking & Financial Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Seattle's concentration of cloud platform companies, aerospace manufacturers, and life-sciences firms creates consistent, year-round demand for engineering leaders across all seniority levels.
