Entry Level Environmental Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level environmental engineer job?
Employers hiring at this level look for a degree in environmental engineering or a related field, hands-on internship or co-op experience, and familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, GIS, or environmental modeling software. A portfolio of site assessments, lab reports, or capstone projects strengthens your application. Tailoring your resume to each posting and highlighting relevant coursework closes the gap when experience is limited.
Which companies hire entry level environmental engineers?
Companies hiring entry level environmental engineers right now include Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, Northrop Grumman, and LaBella Associates, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers environmental consulting firms, civil and infrastructure contractors, government agencies, and industrial manufacturers with active compliance programs.
Are there remote entry level environmental engineer jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level are field- or office-based. About 26% of entry level environmental engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, typically covering data analysis, report writing, and permitting work that doesn't require a physical site presence. Hybrid arrangements are more common than fully remote at this experience level.
Are these new grad environmental engineer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior environmental engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-op terms toward the requirement, or accepts a strong academic portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like "entry level," "new grad," or "junior" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level environmental engineers?
Entry Level environmental engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they face ongoing regulatory compliance obligations, infrastructure projects, and site remediation work that requires consistent entry level support alongside senior staff.
