Job Description:
The Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) / Quality Testing Supervisor works closely with our engineering and production team to verify all electrical work is correct and that our HVAC units function as designed. They also work closely with our programing and controls team to ensure HVAC units meet or exceed standards outlined in submitted proposals. FAT Supervisors are responsible for developing procedures and monitoring staff to ensure work is performed safely with the highest quality standards and delivered on time.
Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical and software tests on large HVAC units while working with exposed voltages up to 1000V AC and/or DC.
- Use engineering documents (Schematics, Spec. Sheets, Auto-Cad Drawings, etc.) to create testing documents to verify proper operation.
- Document all non-conformances and take responsibility for reaching a solution.
- Inspect equipment and certify that it meets all requirements for UL 508 A Certification.
- Document test records.
- Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
- Troubleshoot and correct electrical problems using a wide variety of test equipment. This includes multi-meters, -i pot testers, manometers, refrigeration gauges, pressure transducers, temperature and humidity testers, psychrometers, laptops, etc.
- Program controls and other components using many different techniques. This is accomplished either through an on-board keypad or via software.
- Oversee testing crew.
- Maintain performance guidelines.
- Monitor staff and support upstream and downstream departments.
- Perform inspection and testing on electrical components.
- Provide leadership in pre and post-test sequence assembly and disassembly on all voltage classes.
- Possess in-depth expertise in how to use and interact with manuals: schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in a manner that assures accurate findings in troubleshooting, problem solving, and determining optimum solutions.
- Assure an accurate and clear evaluation of test data.
- Possess the discipline and rigor to safely perform work independently in a manner that delivers quality results.
- Effectively communicate with engineers and senior leadership.
- Provide direction and leadership in assuring all work is executed per all safe work practices, industry best practices, and certification requirements.
- Supervise, lead, mentor, and/or train multiple technicians and/or crews as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 2-3 years proven leadership (Supervising employees of various skill sets).
- 2-3 years experience as an electrical test technician.
- Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
- Able to read schematics & identify functions of circuit design.
- Familiarity with modern test equipment.
- Experience using common electronic test equipment.
- Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems.
- Experience with Microsoft and associated applications.
- Must be able to successfully pass APP’s Basic Electrical Exam.
- Basic knowledge of: fan systems, pumps, compressors, VFD’s, PLC’s, and electro-mechanical controls.
Education:
- Certification from a trade school specializing in electrical design, application, or engineering.
- 3-5 years HVAC systems commissioning / troubleshooting.
- 3-5 years controls commissioning / troubleshooting.
- 3-5 years with PLC’s, VFDS and other electrical control devices.
- 1-2 years experience with ERP systems - SAP experience is a plus.

Essential Physical Functions:
- Lift up to 50lbs.
- Sit or stand for up to 95 percent of work hours.
- Periodic visits to the manufacturing facility with seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and some chemical fume exposure.
