Long field days and early starts, in exchange for a front-row seat inside industrial sites most folks only drive past. Field Technician Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field technician job in Columbus?
Target the Columbus sectors that hire field technicians most consistently: utilities and energy infrastructure, telecommunications carriers, medical device servicing, and commercial HVAC and facilities management. Roles cluster around Easton, Polaris, and the industrial corridors along I-270. Candidates who hold a relevant certification, such as a BICSI, EPA 608, or manufacturer credential, and who have reliable transportation stand out in the local market.
Which companies hire field technicians in Columbus?
Employers hiring field technicians in Columbus right now include Plug Power, Veo, and Vertiv, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Columbus draws a broad mix of regional utilities, national telecom carriers, healthcare systems, and facilities services contractors, all of which maintain ongoing field technician headcount.
Are there remote field technician jobs in Columbus?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the role, since most field technician work is hands-on and requires a physical presence at a customer site or equipment location. About 0% of field technician openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, which typically covers roles in technical support coordination, remote diagnostics, or project dispatch rather than direct installation or repair work.
How can I get a field technician job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through a paid apprenticeship or entry-level associate technician role with a regional utility or a national telecom carrier, both of which hire locally and train on the job. Community college programs at Columbus State, focused on electronics or HVAC, give candidates a concrete credential that local facilities management and commercial services contractors recognize when screening applicants with limited field hours.
Which industries hire the most field technicians in Columbus?
Columbus field technician roles concentrate in Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. Columbus's role as a major logistics hub, combined with its large healthcare systems and ongoing telecom infrastructure buildout, keeps demand for field technicians across those sectors consistently high.
