Responsible for supporting the underwriting and execution of debt transactions and portfolio management for sponsor finance portfolio management companies. Assists the sponsor finance team in various aspects of the credit lifecycle, including financial analysis, documentation preparation, and portfolio monitoring. Also assists with various aspects of the deal process, working closely with senior team members to provide creative late-stage and leveraged capital solutions to clients, prospects and portfolio management companies.
- Credit Analysis and Underwriting - Assist in conducting financial analysis and due diligence on new opportunities and existing portfolio companies. Help prepare credit memorandums, financial models, and loan packages for approvals. Support the underwriting process for new loans, renewals, and credit actions related to modifications or changing risk. Aid in document preparation and assist in the loan closing process under senior team members' guidance. Prepare and spread financial statements. Analyze financial data and participate in the assessment of credit risk and loan structuring.
- Portfolio Management and Monitoring - Support proactive portfolio management by reviewing financial and other information to assess client situations and risk. Help maintain the loan portfolio database. Assist in preparing timely and accurate reporting for portfolio companies. Participate in monitoring covenant compliance. Assist in preparing quarterly portfolio reviews and analyses, including criticized loan submissions when necessary. Assist in preparing responses for ad-hoc assessments, for both internal and external reviews. Support the team in identifying potential issues within the portfolio.
- Documentation and Compliance - Assist in preparing and maintaining credit files. Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Help gather and organize documentation for credit applications and renewals. Contribute to the preparation of covenant compliance reports. Support the team in ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete, and in line with bank policies and regulatory standards.
- Client Relationship Support - Participate in client meetings to gather information and understand client needs (under supervision). Assist in preparing materials for client presentations. Support the team in developing and maintaining client relationships. Collaborate with Relationship Managers and other team members to deliver credit solutions to clients. Assist in gathering client information. Respond to basic client inquiries. Contribute to the maintenance of client relationships through timely and accurate communication. Take notes on material updates and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree OR HS Diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, investment banking or commercial finance role.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years’ experience in either a leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial finance role
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Formal credit training program
- Highly proficient at researching information and identifying trends and anomalies
- Extremely adept at understanding and interpreting requests
- Strong understanding of financial accounting with financial modeling experience
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Highly skilled at developing strong, positive relationships with external clients and internal partners
- Excellent communication skills capable of explaining information in a clear and concise manner while adapting delivery depending on the audience and influencing decisions in the best interest of the client
- Professional, thorough, and organized with strong follow-up skills
- Excels in a team environment and very proactive in responding to clients
- Demonstrates initiative, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to adapt to changing demands and requirements
- Responds positively and quickly to constructive feedback
If hired in MA, the base pay for this position is generally between $90,000 - $110,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
