Finance Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance manager job in Chicago?
Start by targeting Chicago's strongest hiring sectors: financial services firms in the Loop, large health systems on the North Side, and manufacturing and logistics companies in the broader metro. Candidates who stand out in this market typically combine CPA or CMA credentials with experience in FP&A, budgeting, or cost accounting. Familiarity with ERP systems and Chicago-based reporting environments gives an additional edge with local employers.
Which companies hire finance managers in Chicago?
Chicago finance manager roles are posted by Fitch Ratings, Google, and Deloitte and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, regional banks, and large hospital networks means hiring comes from a wide range of employer types across the city.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though with limits since many finance manager roles require in-person collaboration for reporting cycles, audits, and leadership meetings. About 41% of finance manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among FP&A and corporate reporting roles at larger Chicago-area employers.
How can I get a finance manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Chicago is moving up from a senior financial analyst or accounting supervisor role within a local company. Chicago's large healthcare networks, commodities firms, and mid-market manufacturers regularly promote from within and hire externally at the senior analyst level as a stepping stone. Earning a CPA while in an analyst role and volunteering for budget ownership or variance analysis projects builds the hands-on experience Chicago hiring managers look for.
Which industries hire the most finance managers in Chicago?
Chicago finance manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Investment & Asset Management, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's position as a hub for commodity trading, insurance, healthcare, and industrial manufacturing creates consistent demand for finance managers across both corporate and operational finance functions.
