The Financial Institutions Underwriting Manager is responsible for underwriting, management, and growth of a diverse profitable portfolio of new and renewal financial institution within the Central Region (can also open up to west coast). The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of complex financial institutions risks, corporate governance practices, regulatory developments, and insurance market conditions, enabling them to deliver sound underwriting decisions and strategic risk management guidance. The position requires subject matter expertise in Directors & Officers Liability, Errors & Omissions Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Employment Practices Liability, and Crime & Fidelity, and serves as a key resource for clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of Financial Institutions ranging from middle-market to large complex financial institutions (asset management, banks, insurance companies, insurance agents
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with our key stakeholders
- Lead new and renewal strategy discussions and presentations with clients and brokers.
- Maintain underwriting best practices, in accordance with underwriting guidelines
- Assist the team in executing on strategic initiatives and product development
Risk Assessment and Analysis
- Analyze complex risks and unusual transaction structures effectively based on increased level of authority
- Assess organizational governance structures and risk management practices.
- Monitor industry sectors for emerging risks, litigation trends, and regulatory developments.
- Analyze company financial performance and capital structure to evaluate risk profile.
What you will need to succeed:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, or related field is preferred.
Experience
- 7-12+ years of experience in Financial Institutions preferred with demonstrated knowledge and skills to support leadership in scaling a profitable portfolio
- Established network of broker relationships and strong reputation within the Financial Institutions network
Skills
- Deep knowledge of management liability insurance products; D&O, E&O EPL, Fiduciary & Crime & Fidelity
- Experience negotiating complex insurance placements and renewals.
- Team leadership and mentoring experience.
- Effective decision-making in complex situations.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
