Entry Level Graphic Artist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level graphic artist job?
Entry level graphic artist roles place the most weight on your portfolio, so lead with your strongest student projects, freelance work, or internship samples. Employers at this stage look for proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite and a sense of visual hierarchy and typography. Tailoring your portfolio to the industry you're targeting, whether retail, media, or tech, gives you a clear edge over candidates with generic samples.
Which companies hire entry level graphic artists?
Companies hiring entry level graphic artists right now include NBCUniversal, Hoffmaster, and The Ole Print Shop, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including in-house creative teams at retailers, media companies, marketing agencies, and startups that need design support without requiring years of experience.
Are there remote entry level graphic artist jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer. About 0% of entry level graphic artist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which means new grads and junior candidates are not limited to local markets. Remote roles often require a polished digital portfolio and reliable design software, since you'll collaborate with teams and share work entirely online.
Are these new grad graphic artist jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior graphic artist roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship credits or student work as qualifying experience, or lists a portfolio as the primary hiring requirement rather than a long work history. Many employers at this level are actively recruiting from design programs and bootcamp graduates.
Which industries hire the most entry level graphic artists?
Entry Level graphic artist roles concentrate in Sports & Recreation and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors tend to drive hiring at the junior level because they maintain active in-house creative needs, from brand assets and social content to product packaging and digital advertising, that are well suited to candidates who are earlier in their careers.
