Entry Level Graphic Designer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level graphic designer job?
Entry level graphic designer roles prioritize a polished portfolio over years of experience. Employers at this level want to see real work, whether from internships, coursework, freelance projects, or self-initiated pieces. Tailoring your portfolio to the type of company you are applying to, showing range in typography, layout, and color, and demonstrating basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or Figma gives candidates a clear edge.
Which companies hire entry level graphic designers?
Companies hiring entry level graphic designers right now include Cannon Design, NIKE, and Stellantis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a wide range of employers, including in-house creative teams at consumer brands, marketing agencies, media companies, and startups building out their first design function.
Are there remote entry level graphic designer jobs?
Yes, though not every opening is fully remote. About 15% of entry level graphic designer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, making flexible work a realistic option for candidates who prefer it. On-site roles still make up a meaningful share, particularly at agencies and studios where junior designers work closely with senior creative teams.
Are these new grad graphic designer jobs?
Yes, the entry level listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it explicitly welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or academic work as qualifying experience, or asks for a portfolio rather than a resume with a long employment history. If a role says junior or associate designer, it is almost always open to new grad applicants.
Which industries hire the most entry level graphic designers?
Entry Level graphic designer roles concentrate in Education, Construction & Real Estate, and Fashion & Apparel, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at the junior level because they produce high volumes of visual content, from marketing and brand assets to digital products, and rely on entry level designers to support production work under senior creative direction.
