Senior Level Health Physicist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level health physicist job?
Employers at this level expect demonstrated ownership of radiation protection programs, not just execution of tasks. A strong candidate brings licensure or certification such as CHP, a record of leading safety audits or regulatory submissions, and experience mentoring junior staff. Tailoring your application to show program-level accountability, rather than individual contributor work, is what separates competitive candidates at this stage.
Which companies hire senior level health physicists?
Companies hiring senior level health physicists right now include IHRC, Mayo Clinic, and Aspirus Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes primarily from national laboratories, nuclear energy operators, federal defense contractors, and large healthcare systems with advanced imaging or radiotherapy programs.
Are there remote senior level health physicist jobs?
Yes, though most roles at this level require some on-site presence given the hands-on nature of radiation safety oversight. About 0% of senior level health physicist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work more common in regulatory consulting, policy, or program management roles than in operational or clinical settings.
What makes a health physicist role senior level?
Senior level roles carry program-wide or site-wide accountability rather than task-level responsibility. That means owning regulatory compliance frameworks, making independent technical judgments on complex radiation safety questions, leading incident investigations, and mentoring or supervising junior physicists. The scope extends beyond day-to-day monitoring into strategic planning, budget input, and direct engagement with regulators or executive stakeholders.
Which industries hire the most senior level health physicists?
Senior Level health physicist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand because they operate under strict federal radiation safety regulations and require experienced professionals who can manage compliance programs, interface with oversight agencies, and lead safety culture across large facilities or organizations.
