Senior Level Laboratory Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level laboratory manager job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have owned outcomes, not just executed tasks. Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams, managing regulatory compliance, and driving process improvements are strong differentiators. Highlight specific instances where your decisions shaped laboratory performance, reduced costs, or accelerated throughput. Advanced credentials in a relevant discipline and experience mentoring junior staff reinforce your readiness for senior ownership.
Which companies hire senior level laboratory managers?
Companies hiring senior level laboratory managers right now include Quest Diagnostics, Akima, and Teknor Apex Company, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to concentrate among large pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and contract research organizations that maintain complex, regulated laboratory environments requiring experienced leadership.
Are there remote senior level laboratory manager jobs?
Yes, though most laboratory manager roles require an on-site presence due to the hands-on nature of the work. About 2% of senior level laboratory manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these positions typically involve oversight, quality systems, or regulatory functions that can be handled off-site rather than direct bench supervision.
What makes a laboratory manager role senior level?
Senior level laboratory manager roles carry broader scope and deeper accountability than mid-level positions. Expectations include setting operational direction, owning compliance and quality outcomes, leading multi-person teams, managing capital equipment decisions, and mentoring junior and mid-level staff. These roles often interface directly with executive leadership, clients, or regulatory bodies and require the experience to navigate complex technical and organizational challenges independently.
Which industries hire the most senior level laboratory managers?
Senior Level laboratory manager roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive demand because their operations depend on rigorous quality control, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement, all of which require experienced laboratory leadership to execute reliably at scale.
