Healthcare Data Analyst Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare data analyst in Rhode Island?
A bachelor's degree in health informatics, data science, biostatistics, or a closely related field is the standard entry point for this role in Rhode Island. No state-issued license is required, but employers across Providence's hospital systems and health insurers consistently favor candidates with health informatics credentials such as RHIA or CHDA from AHIMA, or a certificate in clinical data management. Rhode Island's concentration of academic medical centers makes graduate-level training from institutions like Brown University a meaningful differentiator.
How much do healthcare data analysts make in Rhode Island?
Healthcare data analysts in Rhode Island earn a median of about $102,440 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,310 for the lowest 10% to over $158,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare data analysts in Rhode Island?
Employers hiring healthcare data analysts in Rhode Island right now include CVS Health, Gilbane, and UPS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's hospital networks and regional health insurers generate the most consistent demand, particularly for analysts who understand both clinical workflows and payer data environments.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most healthcare data analyst jobs?
Rhode Island, Providence, and Cumberland have the most healthcare data analyst openings in Rhode Island. Providence dominates because it anchors the state's largest hospital networks, academic medical centers, and health insurance operations, while surrounding communities like Pawtucket and Cranston draw volume from satellite facilities and administrative offices tied to those same Providence-based systems.
Are there remote healthcare data analyst jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than most fields. Healthcare data analysis is fundamentally desk-based work, so remote and hybrid arrangements are common. About 63% of healthcare data analyst openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted away from on-site requirements. Payer analytics and population health roles tend to be the most consistently remote, while positions embedded in clinical informatics teams often retain some on-site expectations.
How can I get hired as a healthcare data analyst in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a health information technician or junior data coordinator role at one of Rhode Island's larger hospital systems, where candidates build hands-on EHR and coding experience before moving into analyst positions. Lifespan Health System and Brown University Health both hire entry-level health information staff and have internal development tracks. An associate-level AHIMA credential like the RHIT, combined with a portfolio of SQL projects or academic capstone work, gives candidates without direct experience a concrete edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare data analyst jobs in Rhode Island?
