Healthcare Data Analyst Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare data analyst in New York?
Most New York employers require a bachelor's degree in health informatics, biostatistics, computer science, or a closely related field, and many prefer candidates with a master's degree for mid-level roles. New York does not issue a state license specifically for healthcare data analysts, but earning a Registered Health Information Administrator credential through AHIMA or a Certified Health Data Analyst designation strengthens a candidacy considerably with large health systems and insurers in the state.
How much do healthcare data analysts make in New York?
Healthcare data analysts in New York earn a median of about $130,460 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $73,330 for the lowest 10% to over $214,080 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare data analysts in New York?
Employers hiring healthcare data analysts in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Essen Health Care, and Columbia University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of major academic medical centers, regional health plans, and state public health agencies means hiring activity stays consistent throughout the year across both the city and upstate markets.
Which New York cities have the most healthcare data analyst jobs?
New York, Bronx, and Mineola have the most healthcare data analyst openings in New York. New York City drives the largest share by far because of its density of hospital systems, health insurers, and managed care organizations, while Albany sees consistent demand tied to state government health agencies and regional health systems, and Buffalo draws openings from institutions like Kaleida Health and the University at Buffalo's health enterprise.
Are there remote healthcare data analyst jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since the work is desk-based and does not require direct patient contact. About 42% of healthcare data analyst openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how widely health systems and insurers have accepted distributed analytics teams. Population health modeling, quality reporting, and claims analysis are the functions most commonly offered on a fully remote basis.
How can I get hired as a healthcare data analyst in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to a health information management or junior data analyst role within a large New York hospital system, which often serves as a structured on-ramp into analytics work. Northwell Health and NewYork-Presbyterian both run new-graduate programs and rotational opportunities that accept candidates from adjacent roles such as medical coding, revenue cycle, or clinical documentation. Building a portfolio with publicly available CMS or New York State Department of Health datasets and earning a Certified Health Data Analyst designation from AHIMA will distinguish candidates who lack professional experience.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare data analyst jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to healthcare data analyst jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
