Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Highway / Roadway Engineer to join its collaborative team in New Haven, CT. This individual will serve a key function in the engineering design of highways, freeways and local roads for diversified transportation projects across the Southeast and across the country. In this role, under the direction of a Senior Engineer, you will have the opportunity to assist with the design and permitting of traffic/transportation engineering and infrastructure projects in a cross-disciplinary learning environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Geometric designs of highways, freeways, and local roads using national and local codes;
- Concept layout and preliminary design of roads;
- Preparation of construction plans;
- Preparation of Traffic Signalization drawings and plans;
- Design of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements;
- Design of roadway drainage networks and preparation of stormwater management plans;
- Construction specifications review and estimating of costs and quantities;
- Preparation of Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans (MPT);
- Use engineering equipment and design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Guidesign, AutoTURN, etc.) to prepare engineering and design documents;
- Complete ADA inspections of constructed facilities; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering;
- 0+ years of work-related experience;
- EIT certification or working towards it preferred;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
- Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
