Join Henry Ford Health as a Pharmacy Technician Advanced Medication History Advocate. In this role you will be responsible for obtaining medication histories for patients admitted to the hospital.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Location: Grand Blanc
Schedule: Part Time Variable Shifts - 20 Hours a week - Afternoons
Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist. Performs activities or tasks in specialty pharmacy services.
About Henry Ford Genesys Hospital: Henry Ford Genesys Hospital delivers specialty and 24/7 emergency care at a Level II Adult Trauma Center. Our hospital is a destination for specialty care including heart, cancer, and stroke care. Our OB-GYNs/maternity care teams deliver a personalized birthing experience and advanced neonatal care for sick babies. We offer a range of minimally invasive procedures using robotic-assisted technology, imaging, and a inpatient rehabilitation center, all on one campus.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs specialized duties such as hazardous drug compounding, medication history, nuclear, and Patient Assistance Program (PAP) as a pharmacy technician.
- Refills and maintains automated dispensing system. Prepares orders, maintains inventory, and repackages bulk medications. Receives and stores incoming supplies.
- Serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing necessary information. Communicates with external resources such as retail pharmacies, provider officers, and data exchanges.
- Identifies and assists with patient medication access including, benefit investigation, prior authorization, and financial assistance. Assists Pharmacist in preparation of patient education materials.
- May give immunizations in accordance with state laws.
- May serve as pharmacist extender in situations such as Caregiver Model of the Future responsibilities. May monitor compliance with regulatory standards and be responsible for inventory and drug shortage management and optimization.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a retail pharmacy technician and/or medication history technician in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Active pharmacy technician licensure/registration in the state of Michigan required.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification preferred.
