Our client is a university-wide service organization committed to delivering technology solutions that support client’s mission of teaching, learning, research, innovation, and sustainability. The Infrastructure Project Manager will provide day-to-day project management services across the university for telecommunications, data communications infrastructure, and construction-related projects. This role will work closely with Network Services, Datacom Services, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to plan, coordinate, implement, and ensure quality delivery of infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage telecommunications and data communication infrastructure and construction-related projects.
- Plan, prepare, and distribute RFQs and RFPs.
- Review bids for accuracy and qualify vendors/bidders.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including:
1. Floor plans
2. Telecom outlet locations
3. Telecommunications room layouts
4. Project design documents
5. Drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Coordinate with Network Services and Datacom Services teams to procure and install required equipment, including:
1. Wireless Access Points
2. Network switches
3. Telecommunications equipment
4. Other network infrastructure components
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for existing and new telecommunications/data services.
- Conduct quality-control audits and site visits to ensure compliance with client’s Tel/Data Standards and Wiring Specifications.
- Support process improvement initiatives related to infrastructure project delivery.
- Coordinate telecommunications and structured cabling projects from planning through implementation.
- Ensure projects follow applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and construction best practices.
- Coordinate UPS installations and related infrastructure requirements.
- Work effectively across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience managing telecommunications and data communication cabling projects.
- Experience designing and implementing:
1. Copper twisted-pair cabling
2. Fiber optic outside and inside plant cabling
3. Horizontal structured cabling
- Experience working with third-party vendors to coordinate existing and new services.
- BICSI / RCDD certification, or willingness to complete RCDD certification within one year of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to distinguish between different colors.
- Ability to interpret and prepare drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with different data, telephone, and CATV network infrastructures, topologies, and equipment.
- Strong experience using:
1. Microsoft Office
2. Microsoft Visio
3. AutoCAD
- Comprehensive knowledge of current TIA and BICSI standards.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Experience sizing and coordinating UPS installations.
- Experience with aerial and underground cabling design, installation, and construction best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and succeed in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience designing cable support systems, including:
1. Equipment cabinets
2. Cable management hardware
3. Associated wiring
- Experience designing pathways and termination equipment, including:
1. Cable trays
