WHY DOES THE JOB EXIST?
The IT Systems Administrator will:
- Support the operation, reliability, and security of the agency's middleware and system integration platforms that enable communication and data exchange between enterprise applications.
- Ensure critical systems can securely exchange data and maintain high availability to support business operations.
- Manage middleware infrastructure and integration services across both on premises and cloud environments.
- Maintain system stability and protect data integrity by monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing middleware performance.
- Ensure compliance with agency, state, and federal technology and security requirements.
HOW DOES IT GET DONE?
The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for:
- Installing, configuring, administering, monitoring, and maintaining middleware platforms and supporting infrastructure used for application integration and data exchange.
- Administering and maintaining middleware platforms, application servers, and integration services that support enterprise systems.
- Configuring and supporting system interfaces, APIs, and secure data transfer processes between internal and external systems.
- Applying system updates, patches, and security configurations in alignment with agency standards and compliance requirements.
- Supporting vulnerability remediation efforts and participating in security and compliance activities.
- Coordinating deployments, upgrades, and maintenance activities across development, testing, and production environments.
- Maintaining comprehensive system documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
- Collaborating with infrastructure, database, application, security, and vendor teams to resolve incidents and enhance system reliability.
- Supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes related to middleware services.
- Providing technical guidance and operational support to internal teams and stakeholders.
WHO ARE THE CUSTOMERS?
- Health Care Authority (HCA) internal and external stakeholders, including HCA staff, management, and leadership teams.
- Contacts from other state agencies.
- Outside organizations that interface with various projects and State Agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
