Entry Level Lab Assistant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level lab assistant job?
Employers hiring at this level look for hands-on experience from coursework, internships, or volunteer lab work, along with familiarity with basic safety protocols and lab equipment. Highlighting relevant coursework projects, certifications like OSHA 10, and any time spent in a clinical, research, or academic lab setting gives candidates a clear edge over applicants with a generic resume.
Which companies hire entry level lab assistants?
Companies hiring entry level lab assistants right now include MaineHealth, Novant Health, and Huntsville Hospital Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of hospital systems, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and commercial testing labs, many of which actively recruit new graduates and candidates with limited prior experience.
Are there remote entry level lab assistant jobs?
Yes, though most lab assistant roles are on-site by nature. About 0% of entry level lab assistant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these positions tend to involve data entry, sample logging, or administrative lab support rather than direct bench work. On-site roles remain the clear majority at this experience level.
Are these new grad lab assistant jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior lab assistant roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or practicum hours in place of full-time work, or lists a degree as the primary qualification. Searching for new grad openings here surfaces roles that explicitly invite candidates who are just starting out.
Which industries hire the most entry level lab assistants?
Entry Level lab assistant roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive the most entry level hiring because they run high sample volumes, maintain regulatory compliance requirements, and have structured training programs that make it practical to bring on candidates without prior full-time lab experience.
