Laboratory Jobs in Seattle: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a laboratory job in Seattle?
Focus your search on South Lake Union's dense biotech cluster, the University of Washington's research enterprise in the University District, and the life-sciences corridor stretching north through Bothell and Woodinville. Clinical labs attached to hospital systems and diagnostic companies also hire steadily. Candidates who hold relevant certifications, have hands-on instrument experience, and can name specific assay platforms or techniques used in Seattle's biotech and clinical sectors move to the top of shortlists fastest.
Which companies hire laboratorys in Seattle?
Seattle laboratory roles are posted by University Of Washington, Seattle Children's, and CommonSpirit Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market includes a mix of established biotech firms, academic medical centers, contract research organizations, and regional hospital networks, all of which maintain dedicated laboratory staffing pipelines.
Are there remote laboratory jobs in Seattle?
Yes, though remote work is limited for hands-on bench roles and more common for data-heavy or analytical positions such as bioinformatics, regulatory affairs, and lab operations coordination. About 0% of laboratory openings tied to Seattle are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the market's split between wet-lab and office-based functions. In Seattle, bioinformatics and quality assurance roles attached to biotech companies are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a laboratory job in Seattle with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Seattle is applying for laboratory technician or research assistant roles at the University of Washington or one of the South Lake Union biotech companies that maintain formal internship and entry-level hiring programs. Community colleges such as Bellevue College offer laboratory sciences certificates that local employers recognize. Volunteering in a UW research lab or completing a paid co-op through a regional community college program builds the documented bench hours that hiring managers in Seattle's competitive market want to see before making an offer.
Which industries hire the most laboratorys in Seattle?
Most laboratory openings in Seattle sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Seattle's concentration of venture-backed biotech startups in South Lake Union, major hospital systems requiring clinical laboratory staff, and UW-anchored academic research make those sectors the most consistent sources of local laboratory demand.
