Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in Baltimore: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in Baltimore?
Focus your search on Baltimore's densest hiring clusters: the academic medical centers in East Baltimore, the long-term care and rehabilitation facilities in Northeast and Northwest Baltimore, and the federally qualified health centers serving West Baltimore neighborhoods. Candidates with experience in geriatrics, med-surg, or behavioral health move fastest in this market. Familiarity with Epic EMR and a CNA background both give you a measurable edge with Baltimore hospital systems and skilled nursing operators.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in Baltimore?
Employers hiring licensed practical nurses in Baltimore right now include GBMC HealthCare, Keswick Multicare Center, and Optum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Baltimore's hiring landscape is anchored by large academic health systems, community-based nursing facilities, and home health agencies serving the city's diverse residential neighborhoods.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in Baltimore?
Remote work is uncommon for licensed practical nurses because the role is inherently hands-on and requires direct patient contact. About 100% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to Baltimore are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to cover telephonic care coordination or utilization review functions for Baltimore-area managed care organizations.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in Baltimore with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Baltimore is through long-term care and assisted living facilities, which hire new graduates more readily than hospital systems and offer supervised clinical exposure. Baltimore-area nursing homes, adult day programs, and home health agencies in communities like Belair-Edison and Cherry Hill frequently post entry-level openings. Completing a Baltimore City Community College practical nursing program and securing a preceptorship at a local facility significantly improves your chances with area employers.
