Licensed Practical Nurse Jobs in St. Louis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a licensed practical nurse job in St. Louis?
The strongest hiring activity in St. Louis sits within hospital systems along Kingshighway Boulevard, skilled nursing facilities in South County, and federally qualified health centers serving North St. Louis neighborhoods. Candidates who have experience in geriatric care or med-surg settings tend to move quickly through the process. Highlighting familiarity with Epic or Cerner and any specialty floor experience gives a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire licensed practical nurses in St. Louis?
Companies currently hiring licensed practical nurses in St. Louis include Mercy, Advantage Nursing Services, and Kindred Hospitals, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. St. Louis draws a mix of large academic medical employers, regional long-term care chains, and community health organizations, all of which hire licensed practical nurses on a rolling basis.
Are there remote licensed practical nurse jobs in St. Louis?
Remote work is uncommon for licensed practical nurses because the role is fundamentally hands-on and requires direct patient contact. About 4% of licensed practical nurse openings tied to St. Louis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve telehealth triage or care coordination rather than bedside duties.
How can I get a licensed practical nurse job in St. Louis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in St. Louis is through long-term care and rehabilitation facilities in areas like Florissant and Kirkwood, which hire new graduates more consistently than acute-care hospital units. Applying for restorative aide or care technician roles at these facilities first builds the clinical hours and references that open doors to licensed practical nurse positions.
Which industries hire the most licensed practical nurses in St. Louis?
St. Louis licensed practical nurse roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The city's density of academic medical centers, post-acute rehabilitation campuses, and publicly funded community health clinics keeps demand for licensed practical nurses steady across those sectors year-round.
