Nurse Resident Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse resident in Missouri?
To become a nurse resident in Missouri, you need to graduate from an accredited nursing program and obtain your RN license through the Missouri State Board of Nursing by passing the NCLEX-RN. Once licensed, you apply directly to formal nurse residency programs offered by Missouri health systems, which typically run for ten to twelve months and are open to new graduates. An ADN qualifies you to apply, though many Missouri residency programs prefer or require a BSN.
Which companies hire nurse residents in Missouri?
Missouri nurse resident roles are posted by Mercy, CoxHealth, and Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's largest health systems operate dedicated new-graduate residency cohorts at their flagship hospitals, making them the most reliable source of structured entry-level nursing roles in the state.
Which Missouri cities have the most nurse resident jobs?
Cape Girardeau, Springfield, and Branson have the most nurse resident openings in Missouri. St. Louis and Kansas City drive the highest volume because both metros are home to major academic medical centers and multi-hospital health systems that run ongoing residency cohorts, while Columbia's openings are anchored by MU Health Care and its role as a regional referral destination for central Missouri.
How can I get hired as a nurse resident in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is applying directly to a structured new-graduate nurse residency program, which is designed for candidates with no post-graduation experience. BJC HealthCare, Saint Luke's Health System, and MU Health Care all run cohort-based residencies that accept recent NCLEX passers. Candidates who strengthen their application with a current BLS certification, documented clinical rotation hours in acute care settings, and a Missouri RN license in hand before applications close tend to move further in the process than those still awaiting licensure.
Where can I find and apply to nurse resident jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to nurse resident jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
