How do I get a maintenance technician job in Columbus?
Columbus employers hiring maintenance technicians most actively are in manufacturing plants along I-270, large healthcare campuses on the east and west sides, commercial property management firms downtown and in Polaris, and the warehousing and logistics operations around Rickenbacker. Candidates with HVAC, electrical, or PLC troubleshooting experience stand out in this market. Are there remote maintenance technician jobs in Columbus?
Yes, but only for a narrow slice of the work. Maintenance technician roles are largely hands-on and tied to physical equipment, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of maintenance technician openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to involve remote monitoring, reporting, or technical coordination rather than on-site repair work.
How can I get a maintenance technician job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through a maintenance helper or facilities assistant role with a property management company or a mid-size manufacturer, where on-the-job training is common. Columbus State Community College's trades programs feed directly into local employer pipelines. Apartment complexes managed by Columbus-area real estate firms regularly hire entry-level candidates willing to learn HVAC basics and general repairs on the job.
Which industries hire the most maintenance technicians in Columbus?
Most maintenance technician openings in Columbus sit in Energy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Columbus's role as a major Midwest logistics and manufacturing hub, combined with a large healthcare infrastructure and a growing apartment market, keeps consistent demand across all three sectors.
